Susan wrote: "Reading The Paris Wife didn't make me want to read more Hemingway, OR marry him. Wow, you're over 100 books! Congrats!"Thanks, Susan. Yes, I agree Hemingway wasn't exactly ideal husband material!
Jessie wrote: "7. When the Emperor Was Divine. I found this book very interesting. Japanese internment camps are something I don't have any experience with. Sad, but onterstong read."This is my book group read for next month. It sounds like it will be a good one to discuss.
#100-Grave SurpriseI liked this 2nd one better than the 1st in the series. The relationship between Harper and her step-brother is a little creepy, however. 3*
#101-Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children
Loved the way the really interesting photos were integrated into the story. I did like the first 2/3 of the book better than the last part. Almost 4*
#102-The Paris Wife
The story of Hadley was very interesting, but it did not make me want to read any more Hemingway. Ernest and I do not get along. 3 1/2*
Chris wrote: "I have now matched the number of books I read last year - and still have a month to go!"Yay, Chris!!
#97-Shakespeare's ChristmasI do like the Lily Bard character.
#98-Isak Dinesen: The Life of a Storyteller
I was curious about Isak Dinesen, not really getting a sense of who she was from reading Out of Africa. This book is an excellent literary biography on the woman and her writing. Not an easy read, however. National Book Award winner.
#99-The Dark Frigate
Another in my quest to read the Newberry winners. Even though I assume this pirate adventure tale was aimed at young boys, I really enjoyed it!
Next year, I'm planning to participate in more challenges (other than just the total number read). I'm hoping that will help me curb my reading "randomness" and deal with more from the TBR list!
Faye wrote: "227 books in one series, Michelle? What are you reading?"Ah, "series" - one of those tricky words. Michelle could have meant 1 series or 30 different series, and it's still the same word!
Nancy wrote: "#67 "V is for Vengeance" Sue Grafton."Wow, I'm jealous that you've already read this! Didn't it just come out? I'll probably have to wait and get it for Christmas.
#94-Dead Over HeelsSomewhat ridiculous, but still fun!
#95-Miss Marple: The Complete Short Stories
Miss Marple doesn't disappoint.
#96-The Double Comfort Safari Club
Really enjoy this gentle, uplifting series.

56. Death of a Gentle Lady: A Hamish Macbeth Mystery - M.C. Beaton
I got a couple of Hamish Macbeth DVD's from the library and enjoyed them (although the thick Scottish accent was hard to understand at times!). You're the first person I've seen who has read one of the books. I'll have to give them a try (although inconsistencies do bother me as well).
I enjoy reading your updates. Congrats on reaching 91 books! It's a great feeling to go way beyond your goal for the year, isn't it? (I'm at about the same number as you.)
Looks like you've read some great books so far this year. I'm looking forward to reading Major Pettigrew, which is one of my book club's selections for this month. Congrats on reaching #64 (and counting)!
