I'm glad you started a Radish thread. I enjoyed the first chapter of Bulwark btw. Looking forward to reading the rest.
Radish is my kind of thing. I do things in short bursts including reading so this is ideal.
I have two books I threw under sci-fi. Modified is available for free and Nate and Day is available for freemium where you pay for chapter 4 onwards if you don't want to wait a week for it to be unlocked for free. It's set for one chapter released each week. They like each chapter to be around 2000 words. So you can write a few chapters of something and get it out there while you write the rest.
The first three chapters of anything are always free regardless of which option the author has chosen. The third option is premium where everything after the first free chapters is locked until coins are paid.
Apart from the fact I haven't earned any coins yet I can't find anything wrong with Radish.

Let's hope that's the case. I'd still like to find a paying market for my work. Of course if I win a jackpot on the lottery I won't mind so much...

I'm also trying not to be concerned about one or two email addresses that have downloaded my book. My concern is that they're going to take the file and distribute it for free elsewhere. I don't know how much of a problem that is with Instafreebie. I'm not a trusting person, I'm slightly paranoid and usually expect the worst.
Carole wrote: "I released three chapters free, everything after that is charged. I earned four coins so far!! Yay, 496 to go!!"Awesome! I've just kicked off Nate and Day on freemium, hopefully someone will get to chapter whatever and feel the need to buy it without waiting a week. If I only get people waiting a week for each chapter I'm using premium for everything else I write!

In my Instafreebie thingy I've had emails from two people stating they didn't receive the book. Now, as they haven't got back to me after I emailed them I wonder if they haven't checked their junk mail folder and my email it sitting there with the book...

Radish- Bearing in mind I've set Modified for free there have been 120 views and 19 subscribers. One person seems to have read the last chapter of the first book.
I've uploaded Nate and Day and it'll be freemium. I'm still not overly clear on how that works, do I release the three chapters now and schedule the ones that they have the option of paying early for? I don't know. I'll probably do that.

Hiya, hope you had a brilliant time.

Thanks everyone, I'll get on to that after my holiday.

Eventually...

I'll have to check that I've filled in all the boxes correctly. I hate that whole process because you change one tiny thing and then you have to wait hours/days for it to be actioned.

I'm not great as a beta reader. I read at the speed of a comatosed sloth.

How did you get Amazon to link the two books as a series? Is it enough to put the series title in the box that mentions it's a series or does that not work?

You're probably ready then. If you've got independent people saying they liked it, regardless of how vague they are then they liked it. Nothing in life is perfect-that includes my first two books, but as I haven't sold many copies for actual hard cash I'm no expert.

I'm definitely no older than 21. (Liar) If the beta readers were favourable-first were they independent betas or friends? Friends and family are ok for beta readers but no use if they're just going to agree with everything you've ever written because they don't want to upset you.

When book 1 was free did you promote book 1 or 2? I'm not sure where I should throw the promotion? No point in paying for book 2 if you haven't read 1. Book 1 is permanently set to 99p at the moment on Amazon. But free on Radish. And the instafreebie.

I continue to work for free/volunteer as a writer. Despite having 14 subscribers to my free book on Radish and over 300 hundred downloads of the same book on a promo I'm a part of, it fills me with dread that the only time people are going to be prepared to read anything I've written is if I just give it away. I hate, no, despise this situation. Not one of them would be prepared to show up for work and not be paid for their efforts month after month.
Oh and I've sold about 6 copies of Nate and Day and one of them I bought. As soon as I get my inheritance I'll need to sink some money into promo. I don't have the energy to do it all on my own.

All the time. Part of me knows I'm good enough. Even really good at it. Part of me knows I'm not. You can always pull a book and republish if you decide you're not happy with it. In the end it's a massive leap of faith. You could use beta readers to get feedback. The chances are you've not written the worst book that's ever been published. For me it's about managing my expectations. I "know" I'm a decent writer but my book sales don't reflect that and may never do so. But I publish anyway because while my confidence is building and I'm writing new things hardly anyone is reading what I've published anyway so it comes down to what the hell. And I always find things I'd do better. Doesn't matter how many times I read and edit.

As it says-loads of free books for a limited time (until 30th July) at this link below:
http://www.andreadomanski.com/promoIt includes mine. I infiltrated the humour section. (So far no-one has complained) The direct link to my free book is:

Thanks.
The freebie download just hit 300. I haven't been able to do much over the weekend-you would not believe the pain I've been in sporadically, I've been operating on family necessities only for a few days. Might have caused some of that myself by helping to build a picnic table. Building positions are not my normal body positions.
Anyway, the point is I'm behind on announcing a free book promo. I'll have to dig out a thread for that.

I will do the flyer and I will have completed my bit by the end of the week cos I'm going away. I have a to do list, it's on it. Thanks Carole.
