201765 Hey everyone!

To get the most out of your free and 99 cent promotions, check out the following sites for getting your promotion advertised in popular email newsletters and across social media. Some of them are only for books that will be free, some of them are for books that are on sale for 99 cents. The sites that say "FREE" after them are free to advertise with but do not necessarily guarantee that your book will be advertised with them. The ones with a price will cost to have your books advertised. I listed the ones that bring me the best ROI.

For best results, plan in advance to submit to the sites. Most require that submission be at least 3 days in advance of your promotion.

201765 Hi everyone :) here is my Facebook page where I post about publishing and writing in general https://www.facebook.com/MarieSilkPub...

If you are running a giveaway or promotion for a free or 99 cent book (that have a family friendly title and cover) just let me know and I will post the promotion to my page. You don't have to have a Facebook account. Just message me here or post in the comments with a link to your book and specify which days it will be on promotion.

Please let me know either the day before or the day of and I will get it shared! :)

201765 I've been enrolled with Select the whole time I've been published and get a lot of books read that way, but it wasn't until I promoted constantly that my books were in Kindle Unlimited that I started seeing massive page reads. Books from page reads are about twice that of regular unit sales. The royalties are less though. They are about half a cent per page.

201765 Great job on the new Kirkus review, Carole :)
201765 Blurb writing is never as easy as it sounds. At first, I really struggled to match my blurb, book cover, and content so the reader would have an idea of what they were getting into. It helped me to get tips on what elements a blurb should contain, and then work from there:

Main character(s) name and approx age
Location/Setting (in the case of my historical fiction books, the year 1915)
Introduce the conflict
Write in present tense to bring the reader into the action

I agree with the above about multiple short paragraphs. Sometimes less is more :).

Yes absolutely! I can see my books in the background of the photo too, so...squee!

201765 On my last cruise I ran into a couple who was "hurrying" to the ship library as soon as we embarked because according to them, "the best books are the first to go". Well I had a look at the library and the selection was pretty...sad...it didn't look like any of the books were written within the last few decades. The check out system is the honor system: writing your name and the name of the book on the sign out sheet. I thought putting my books into the ship libraries could be pretty cool (and I plan to on my next cruise). So readers from all over the world might either discover them on the library bookshelves or the sign out sheet, or maybe catch a glimpse of someone reading by the pool...also leaving a nice stack of bookmarks on the library check out desk could be fun :D.
