I'm very lucky to be married to my editor. She has taught me a great deal over our 40+ years together. I'm a perpetual student in what she once termed "Kathy's Slash and Burn School of Writing." ;-)
Via a post on Indies Unlimited, I learned about an Art Prompt Writing Contest currently in progress. There is no entry fee. Entries must be 300 words or less (it's flash fiction) and no previously published anywhere (not even on your blog). Deadline is midnight on February 15, 2018 in Dublin, Ireland. There are prizes, 50/25/15 Euros. All details are on the contest page (see previous link).
I'm not sure I completely understand the story at this point. I may be making up things. But try this as a first cut:-----
She finally has it all. She's about to throw it away.
Lucy Yorton had to claw her way to security, but by 1825 she's arrived. Married to a good man, surrounded by good things, her thoughts now turn to helping her new friend, a fiesty American girl, achieve that same happiness. But when a charming and talented artist comes into Lucy's life, all begins to unravel, and not even her husband's warnings can stop her self-destruction. Can she free herself from these new chains she's forged in time to spare her family?

Chrys wrote: "Dale, you might like my urban fantasy 'Penny White' series. The first book is 99p on Kindle, and the second is free for another three days. I'll give you the links."I've started The Temptation of Dragons. I'm only 4 chapters into it and I've already recommended it to my wife!
I wouldn't have thought that religious, either, but some people are awfully persnickety about any mention of God. I was going to write one last night alongside the members of my creative writing workshop, but we had to cancel the meeting because of the weather, which shut down the library. I probably won't enter one this week. Watch out next week, though . . . assuming the photo is any good. ;-)
We've just received our first (pre-release) review of "Ice on the Bay". The review is posted on BookGobbler and the reviewer's blog, Christian Bookaholic. Also, Kathleen finished editing all but the last scene yesterday. She'll have the last scene done today, then I'll make a final pass, and then we should be ready to get the layout and typesetting done. That means we're go for the planned February 26th release with room to spare. Yay!
Amy wrote: "Yes, unfortunately I can only have one name on Radish. So I'll be publishing Missing Remnants under my real name, but it'll appear as Amy on Radish. (You can tell I'm raising my eyebrows right now,..."Yep, I can. ;-) Thanks for the clarification.
Amy wrote: "That’s excellent. Thank you Dale."You're quite welcome. By the by, I mean to ask if I should be identifying you as D. J. or Amy. I used D. J. and thought that was right, but the cover says Amy. Is that an artifact of Radish growing? ;-)
Alexis wrote: "I have finished plotting out my book. Now I have to finish writing it. Wish me luck!"Good luck! And don't worry, you'll get there.
All right, here's one I know you'll all want to spread around: My review of Missing Remnants and interview with its author, our very own D. J. Cooper (Amy Hamilton)! Read my post here, and please share.
Angel wrote: "Thanks! Dale. I hope things are going well for you and your family."You're welcome, and thank you. It's up one day, down the next, but with luck it will smooth out in a month or so.
