Clapped for you, Carole.I've posted the flash fiction piece I entered last year in the Brilliant Flash Fiction contest. It was long-listed there, but only winners and short-listed stories were published, so this is the first time this story has appeared: Probation.

Even if I was in the running, I have too many financial commitments that would exclude me from such endeavours!"Exactly. If I had a few less medical bills and whatnot, maybe, but . . . .

So does that come from people who get book A for free and then decide to buy books B and C? I can see that, maybe, but shelling out that much up front is, for me, a non-starter. I'm trying to find the right time to shell out some money for a Bargain Booksy promo (haven't tried yet), which is only about a tenth of that, but which with luck will generate some actual sales rather than just giveaways.
I've entered this week with a story about a horse who's more than a horse. To read, click here and scroll down to the comments.

Theodore wrote: "ALL chapters (ALL) must start on an odd page, not just Chapter ..."That's the general rule, although sometimes in more recent titles it may not be strictly adhered to (which may be a matter of economy, to avoid blank pages). The convention may result from the fact that each spread consists of the back side (verso) of the sheet on the left and the front side (recto) of the sheet on the right. Numbering always starts with "1" on the recto page. Therefore, all recto pages will have an odd number and all verso pages will have an even number. The title page is always a recto page, and the first page of a chapter is almost always a recto page.
Alex wrote: "An international BookBub ad for a Free mystery is $131 (it would be about $500 for a US ad in the same category)"Wait a minute . . . I'd have to pay $500 to tell people to come get my book for free?? That promises an extremely poor ROI, financially speaking. Why would I do that? Okay, exposure, I know that, but $500 to get it?
(Reminds me of a joke once told by Irish comedian Dave Allen which ends with the punch line, "Dahling, do you think I'm made of bricks?")

Happy birthday!
What's the process (and cost) for getting in there? I've never actually looked. Too many other things occupying my attention in recent months. . .

Okay, so it's an international deal rather than a US deal but I'm still mighty pleased and I only have to wait until 05/..."
