For those of you that use it, what are your thoughts?"I've found that so long as you can write reasonably interesting content at on a regular basis, it's easy enough to make back the annual membership fee and then some. It seems you have to post a lot to make a lot, but it's not too hard to make something, and it does at least give you exposure to a wider audience than you'd likely get elsewhere.
Hosting services often provide web design services. Being a software developer, I've never used such services, but they may be an inexpensive way to get a site. Of course, you'll be paying for the hosting. I've been using 123ehost since the early 2000's and have hosted several sites through them, including some I built from scratch, some I built using Wordpress (including my current site) and some I built using Drupal (which I don't recommend unless you need something heavy duty; I used that for my publishing company's e-commerce sites). A lot of it depends on how much you want to spend. Okay, I'm probably rambling. I'm a bit under the weather this evening. But feel free to pepper me with questions if you want.
I was already in touch with Miranda via email and have books ordered for her. Thanks, Miranda! And thank you, Carole, for putting us in touch with her!
Thanks, everyone! We had a great Thanksgiving with most of the family in attendance. Hope yours (if you're in the U.S.) was the same!
My latest fiction from Lit Up, a tale that got its title from something my wife said and I misheard: Thirty Minutes of Evil.
Thanks, all, and yes, I've been trying to make her rest, although its tricky sometimes. She gets like me and wants to keep going even when she shouldn't Her real problem is health, though. I don't recall if I've mentioned, but a couple of years ago she was diagnosed with lupus. It's fairly well under control at the moment, but even so it takes its toll.
At long last, my wife and I have agreed to bring my SF/humor novel Space Operatic to market in March, 2020. (The long delays have much to do with her health issues and general exhaustion from editing so many books over the past decade, as well as our chaotic summer this year.)I've done a blog post on the subject. I'd appreciate any help you can offer in spreading the word and generating buzz. I'm going to set up one of those "ask me some questions" things here on Goodreads, related to the forthcoming release, too. So you can ask questions, if you can think of any.
Thanks!
Has anyone used Online Book Club for promotion? They offer reviews and listings on their site for a fee. There are four levels of service ranging from $97 to $297. The main differences are the level of exposure you get on their site and how long they take to perform the review (up to 4 months at the low end, 1 month at the high end).
I ran a promo for The Fibonacci Murders last week on ManyBooks, the first time I've used them. Today I got an email saying they like my work and want to invite me to be an Author of the Day for free (normally $49). It includes an author interview and extra exposure. I'm surprised and delighted by this honor, of course. I certainly wan't expecting it. Even if they make such offers to fill up unsold slots, I'm sure they don't offer it to just anyone. I'll let you know when the interview runs.

Congratulations! As for Vine, I have no idea but I did once have a Vine reviewer review one of my Howard County novels. I'm not sure it made much difference, but it made me feel good.
Alex wrote: "Yep, but I've gone through and clapped for your articles now."Noticed that, and appreciate it.
Alex wrote: "Grrr, Goodreads stopped telling me about new posts here. I'll catch up with things shortly."It's giving you the silent treatment, eh?
