I use Ingram Spark. Both the cover and interior files can be changed, but I think they might charge a small setup fee to do so (although they do offer coupons for free setup with some frequency). I don't know I like the idea of swapping covers around too much, though, because it might be confusing to customers who are thinking about buying but haven't yet. Also, I'd have to pay my artist for both covers. I've asked him to hang onto the blue one, though, because if I write another Bernard and Melody novel it could be used for that. I think it's generic enough that it would fit most stories I might write about them.
Thanks Anna and Sam! Interestingly, most people are picking the weasel cover, although some think the other one is more representative of the novel itself. It's going to be a really tough choice!
My next novel, "Weasel Words" a humorous crime novel starring Bernard and Melody (who you may recall debuted in a flash fiction story) is coming soon. Our artist has given us two cover concepts, which I've posted on my Facebook author page. If you'd be so kind, please have a look and let me know which you prefer. Thank you!
I have a new short story on Medium, in the publication An Idea: Ill-Gotten Gains. This was written for a Reedsy prompt contest.
Sam (Rescue Dog Mom, Writer, Hugger) wrote: "Awesome, Dale! So happy for you! Hugs!!"Thank you, Sam!
Anna wrote: "I think you'd better start getting used to it, Dale!"Thank you, Anna! But I'm not holding my breath. That way, if it doesn't happen again, I won't be too disappointed. And if it does, then I can be surprised anew. ;-)
My story "Forest of Giants" got a nice mention in this review of the Indies Unlimited 2018 Editor's Choice Anthology. I'm happy because although the reviewer liked the whole collection and gave it five stars, my story was one of five he singled out for special mention. I'm not used to getting that kind of attention. :-)
Justin wrote: "I've read and looked into building an email list but have never been sure of where to send links to get people to join."I started with Instagram, as suggested by August (see my earlier posts), but after awhile I realized I was getting more traction from StoryOrigin. I highly recommend looking into that. It's free for the moment (although it may cost something eventually) and is based on authors swapping mentions in their newsletters. It works surprisingly well.
Blog tours are certainly another possibility. I've only done one, though, and didn't see much of a result from it. I wouldn't discount them based on that, but I've been focused more on free options than paid options, because I don't have a lot of money to throw around.
This might give you deja vu, but I assure you, it's a different announcement:The 2019 Indies Unlimited Editor's Choice Flash Fiction Anthology is now available. It's free through November 22nd and $1.99 thereafter. I have three stories in this collection, two winners and one honorable mention. There are a ton of other great stories, too, all a mere 250 words or less in length, so you can "eat" them like popcorn. Pick up your copy while it's free!
I know Halloween is over, but this one was written at the last minute and I've only now gotten it onto Medium: Choose One.
At long last, the 2018 Indies Unlimited Editor's Choice Flash Fiction Anthology is available on Amazon. It will be available for free from November 10th (today) through 14th. After that, it will be $1.99.I have two winning stories and two honorable mentions in this collection. I'm not sure if anyone else here has any. I'm not awake enough yet to check. :-P
I've posted a new flash fiction western ghost story on my Red Tales publication: Ruin. I hope you enjoy it!
Welcome, PL! I've followed you on both FB and Twitter. This group hasn't been incredibly active for a while, but there are some wonderful people here. With luck they'll see this and connect with you.
