Hi guys, I've recently become a member of The Book Robin Hoods site, it's a place that features both bloggers and authors, and has some other cool stuff like an author profile where people can find out about you and your work, and a forum where you can post an excerpt of your book, chat to other authors, find critique partners etc.The bloggers and the authors are free to contact each other to set up features and reviews, and there are a lot of Bookstagrammers that make gorgeous pictures of books.
I've done a blog post with more info so I'll just link that if you're interested. It's been really successful for me already- I've had about eight bloggers requesting my book and hopefully as it grows there will be even more that join.
It's a great community too and I've followed some really good bloggers and gotten to chat with them and make some friends. I definitely recommend it!

Hi guys, I really need some help! I found a gorgeous picture for the cover of the first book in my series, a white girl with brown hair shooting a bow. Now for my second book, I desperately want a picture of the second main character introduced, a middle eastern woman, but I’m coming up with next to nothing on the main stock image sites! I’m really disappointed with the lack of options available. If you have a good lesser-known site that I may be able to find what I’m looking for on, please recommend it! I definitely don’t want to whitewash the character and I don’t want to have to pick someone different to feature on the cover if I can help it.
If you have a model in mind- even better :D she’s athletic with dark hair, if she’s holding a pair of fans, I’ll love you forever... The setting is medieval fantasy style, armour or a gorgeous dress will do as she’s happy in either. I need her without a head covering though and the few pictures I can find all seem to be wearing them.
I did find some pictures on Pinterest that look like her but I’m not sure if there’s a way to do a search for similar images that I can buy? https://www.pinterest.co.uk/KayMacLeo...
Any help is much appreciated :D thanks!
Thanks Judy :)A huge Merry Christmas to everyone who’s been involved in this event, it’s been amazing and it wouldn’t have been nearly as great if you hadn’t all put in so much effort!
I hope you’ve enjoyed it too and will come back next year!
Aww, thank you, Jennifer! :D It has been awesome, and here’s to making it even bigger and better for next year ;)

Thanks! It’s just a little idea I’ve been playing around with at the minute but I’ll put some serious thought into it once the Indie Advent Calendar is over if people think it would work well :)

It’s grown so much already in one year, I just hope everyone is getting some new interest for their books from it! I’m already thinking of ways to make it even better next year ;) I’d love to do something for Summer holidays, I was thinking of a summer blog-a-day, throughout August having a guest post each day, maybe a little story or something from different people to encourage everyone to try a new holiday read.
Hey guys, this week Heirs of Power is featured in Author Shout’s cover wars. It would be awesome if you could vote for it! http://authorshout.com/cover-wars/Thank you!
Okay a quick update- On Facebook we've reached 1.4K people with information about the event, and had 336 unique visitors to the page.I'm seeing between 150-250 website views per day at the minute and it seems to be increasing each day :) There are also some through clicks, with people visiting the buy links and social media!
I hope you're all getting some new life-long fans :D
Man, I love statistics. Graphs are the most fun part of this for me lol
Those are some great points, Erica! Yesterday for my day I did an ask me anything which went down well, and I got to talk about a wide range of topics. I did a fun question too, I described my characters and asked what Constellation powers people would have. Not only was it fun but I got a response from someone new saying that they loved the concept and really wanted to read my book!I really encourage you all to do some extra bits on there, the more content there is the more readers will keep checking in. And, as Erica said, if they get interested in you then they’ll be interested in your work.
Seriously, just go for it and post in there, this is everyone’s event and not just mine! Especially on your own day where people will be thinking about your book anyway. But other times are great too!
Thank you Erica and Denise for your encouragement :)
