201765 Let's not forget that these threads were created for our mutual problems with independent publishing. I think we should stick to the topic of gripes we have on that topic, rather than any other issues.

This is truly not the forum to express personal views about anything other than writing.

I didn't like them. The person I worked with started out with nothing costing me and ended with a 2300 charge for formatting and stuff. When I opted to go with Createspace and Ingram I was able to do everything without any charges.

201765 lol. No choice - the viscous or something is separating from my eye wall- They had to laser or run the risk that I was going to tear my retina and do something irreversible. Just what I needed with all the other stuff going on in my life back then.
All better now...sort of.
201765 Got everyone- I think.

Thank you Carmel. Hoping this will give me the courage to self-publish my books some..."

Think of it as practice.

201765 Sending you hugs and kisses. I had the laser thing to both eyes this December and January and carried on like it was an amputation. You're very brave, Debz.

Choose the threads you want to participate in carefully, Michael, and then make sure you check what's going on from time to time. I find I miss my friends here- so I will read the threads a couple of times a day. Sometimes I don't have time to respond- but that doesn't mean I haven't read their comments.
These discussion threads are filled with very knowledgeable people. They've tried things and are willing to share their experiences and sources. I have learned so much and I hope I have shared my information as well.

You'll find them very helpful and most of all, sweet.

In defense of some of the other threads, you'll find some are great sources of information. You should check out a thread in your genre. We love it here when you post questions or share something you've discovered. I found everyone here supportive and willing to try new things.

201765 My youngest son handles all the books covers- He loved 99 designs. He ended up picking one artist from there and using him for all my older son's covers. - You can check the covers (Michael Phillip Cash)
They chose a graphic artist for his newest series of books under the name Michael Okon and it ran about the same as 99 designs. Eric (my son) wanted the cover on the new series to look totally different from his older books and look iconic.
What I loved was the artwork on his indie books was it felt very different and original and I couldn't believe the variety of interpretations he got. However, I love all of Amy's covers. She is a smart shopper- so Fiver would be a good bet, too.

Want to add- if you are planning a series- it should have the same kind of look or theme- so try to pick someone who won't disappear on you- I know one author who had that problem.
