"I have also sold a combined 900 copies of the other titles in the series, and earned 110+% of the cost of the feature."
This is the stuff of dreams, Alex. You're an indie-role model.
Both Bulwark and The Knowing were finalists in the International Book Awards. Can a Princess be a Firefighter was also a finalist, as well as my son's Monsterland 1, Monsterland Reanimated, and Stillwell.
While I know they are not 'winners,' I am still proud. They competed against 2000 other entries, many of which were traditionally published
I have often said it validates the writing for both of us when a book receives some sort of recognition.
My heart and hugs go out to all my fellow suffering authors! Mini flood, Anna!!! The light bulb went out over my stove and it took three handymen to figure out it was a starter and not a bulb.
Aww, you make me feel so good. Really Alexis, writing and completing a book is a real reflection of your own determination and stick-with-it-ness. I wish you the best of luck and may a series follow, coupled with huge sales!
You bet. But it's hard for the English speakers as well. I look at some of my earlier stuff and cringe.

I'm glad I helped, Alexis. You've been a big support to me too!! I have to say, I'm very excited for you. Publishing a book is a lot like a new job, or move, or having a baby!!
Profound, Alexis. You are so right, just because you love a genre, that doesn't mean you should write in it.I never read a horror book in my life, don't go to horror movies and I have to say when people say Bulwark is chilling or scary, I chuckle a little bit. I don't know where that came from.
Grief works in mysterious ways. I started my whole writing career when my mom passed. Writing The Knowing was a love letter to my husband, that I don't think I could have written while he was alive.
I'm sad for your loss. It's good that you took your sorrow and changed it into positive energy like producing your book. Maybe writing YA is more about the promise of youth and life we have before us. As such, it's a loving testimony for your cousin.
