I second A Tale of Two Cities and The Princess Bride.

No, this going to by my first time reading his work. My mother says it's his best work and she seemed happy to lend me her copy. Now I'm worried it may be tooth rottingly sweet.

I nominate The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin, 304 pages.

The King in Yellow
A collection of stories by Robert William Chambers. The first four stories are about the famous King in Yellow. He would later make a return with the help of other writers and become a part of the Cthulhu Mythos, as Hastur. After that we get love stories some better than others. I felt disappointed, it start great but after the fifth it lost the supernatural elements.

I second No Country for Old Men and The Neverending Story.

I second Don Quixote and David Copperfield.

The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, 244 pages.

We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson, 146 pages.
