Hey Liam! Thanks for joining the group! I'm planning to add holiday themed posts for December. That should be entertaining. Any thoughts on a book of the month? We haven't chosen one yet. Happy Thanksgiving!
-Jill

Our November theme is all about what we're thankful for, so I thought why not read a book about three sisters who are fighting over one crown. This book is super hyped and is a hot read for fall. Going forward, we're going to read newer hyped-up releases. This way everyone has a chance to read the book along with the group.
November Topics:
Friday, November 4th- Books I'm Thankful For (Think- books you can't live without)
Friday, November 11th-I'm Thankful Someone Recommended Me... (You can list as many book as you want that you are thankful that someone recommended to you.)
Friday, November 18th- Pair a book with a holiday food or drink. (Idea courtesy of Ami @ Luvtoread
Friday, November 25th- Review of Three Dark Crowns
*I know this is the day after Thanksgiving and one of the biggest shopping days of the year. Feel free to post your review for the book whenever you want. This will be a hectic month with the holiday*
Any questions? You can find my blog at rantandraveaboutbooks.com, Twitter @jillianquinn7, Instagram @rantandraveaboutbooks, and email @rantandraveaboutbooks@gmail.com
Happy holidays, everyone! :)

Book of the Month:

The posting dates for October as as follows:
- Friday, October 7th- Choose Whatever You Want From the List Below
-Friday, October 14th- Choose Whatever You Want From the List Below
-Friday, October 21st- Choose Whatever You Want From the List Below
-Friday, October 28th- Review of Mrs. Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children
What I thought you could do for the month is pick which topic you want to do each week. If you want, you can even do more than just the three weeks with the last week being the book review for Mrs. Peregrine’s. I’m reading and writing about all things scary for the month of October, so I’ll be sure to use some of these ideas and link them back to the Hype or Like group and the blogger who came up with them.
Here’s what I’m proposing… You can do whatever topic you want on Friday or any day you want, just make sure you link back to Larkin (wonderfilledreads.com) and myself (rantandraveaboutbooks.com) as well as the Hype or Like Friday group, same as you would any other meme, and also the blogger who came up with the idea. I noticed a lot of posts are not linked to Larkin or myself for Hype or Like Friday, just the mention of our names, which is not the correct way to link the creators of a meme.
I’m linking the bloggers below so you can see who these ideas belong to. There’s something called blogging etiquette so please use proper citation when posting the ideas on your blog. That might sound harsh but this is a group effort and everyone should be given credit for their ideas.
Donna @ Chocolatenwaffles (https://chocolatenwafflesblog.wordpre...) came up with the following ideas:
1# “It’s locked” The scariest settings/places where you would not want to be stuck.
2# “There’s something under the bed” Your favorite / least favorite book monsters (real monsters or human beings killing, being creepy or whoever gives you the heebie-jeebies)
3# “Leave the light on, mommy please” What does a story need to be scary? Are you afraid of real life and realistic stories or does the supernatural aspect do the trick?
4# TOP 5 scariest stories and why they make you want to hide in the cupboard
5# Words to images: which is more likely to make you jump? A movie or a book? / Your favorite scary adaptations
Chrissie @ Bloggin’ and Writing (https://blogginwriting.wordpress.com) came up with these topics:
* Most magical book you’ve read so far and why
* Magical ability you would like to have – book where this ability is showcased
* What Harry Potter house are you sorted with, and do you agree (since I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t love HP.)
* Scariest movie you’ve seen / book you’ve read
* What horror character would you prefer to face-off with
Anne @ Inked Brownies (https://inkedbrownies.com) came up with these topics:
* Out in the Woods
* Leave on the Nightlight
FYI! Based on the poll I ran two weeks ago, we are reading A Darker Shade of Magic in November and Half Bad in December if you want to buy the books or reserve a copies at your library. I'll post the topics that go along with those books the last week of October.

Sorry I'm late on the topics and the book for this month. There are 5 Friday's in September so think of the first week as a by week.
September will still have 3 weekly discussion topics and the book of the month review on the last Friday. If you don't want to review the book of the month because you've already reviewed it or do not want to read it, feel free to post a discussion instead on the Friday of your choosing. You can mix the weekly topics up if you want or make your own spin on them. What you do with this is entirely up to you.
Book of the Month- Carry On
Discussion Topics: All of the topics this month will be themed around going back to school.
September 9th- I Love Science: My Favorite Science Fiction Books- This can be anything you want. Science fiction can be anything from time travel to DNA mutations like X-Men. You can go with comic books or novels. Whatever you feel like writing about.
September 16th- Books That Made Me Want To Read- Think about what books you read while you were in school that made you want to read. Maybe you were an English Lit major in college because you fell in love with Shakespeare or Jane Austen.
September 23rd- Hyped Books I Was Forced To Read In School - Some people are not fans of one of my favorites, Fitzgerald (sigh), and maybe it was because you were forced to read a certain book or books that made you dislike certain hyped-up books.
September 30th- Book of the Month Review of Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

Feel free to stop by and leave a link to your review in the comments. It can be a review you wrote years ago or one you wrote recently. Either way, I'd love to see what you thought of the book.

Book of the Month: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

You can do whatever you want with this topic. Get creative and have fun with it.

If you like ebooks, Amazon is running a sale for $1.99. I paid $7.99 for the ebook last month. I'm not sure how long this sale will last.
June Discussion Topics:
June 3rd: Juiciest Love Triangles (A lot of people dislike this trope. If you're not a fan of them, write a post telling us your thoughts about love triangles.)
June 10th: Diverse Books (Give us some recs for diverse books you've read or want to read.)
June 17th: Favorite Fantasy Novels (Tell us why we should read them.)
June 24th: Review of The Raven Boys
*If you can't think of anything for these topics in books, you can list TV shows, movies, or whatever you'd like. It's your post so have fun with it.

I was also just thinking about The Raven Boys. I have yet to read that and it is also getting loads of hype...
I'm a bit late to the party with this one, but since ACOMAF..."
I have yet to read anything from Sarah J. Maas. I know what you're thinking- what??? It's true. After reading not so great reviews about ToG through some of my blogger friends, I wasn't so sure about checking out ACOMAF. We can put it up for a vote for the group. I'll read whatever everyone decides on. I'm a bad co-host though because I didn't read Passenger last month. Oops!
I just started a Twitter poll with The Raven Boys, The Young Elites, The Crown's Game, and Queen of Hearts. I'm @jillianquinn7 on Twitter if you want to vote.

I'm new to the group, I don't have the book for May, but totally looking forward to joining in June's discussion and book!
My suggestions for June is either The Crowns Game which I've ..."
Michelle, that's a good recommendation. I just noticed The Crown's Game a few days ago, and I want to read it. So far, I received a comment on my blog for The Raven's Boys. I also want to read that book. Once I get two more book recs, I'll send out a group poll so everyone can vote on the books for June.
It's not too late to participate in the weekly discussion topics for May if you want to join in and skip over the book of the month. I didn't review the book latest month either. Welcome to the group!
-Jill

Yes, I'll send out a group email to see what everyone wants to read. I have a few books for the poll, but I need a few more so we can vote on them. I wrote a post about it on my blog last night, but I've only received two recs. I can't wait to see what you post this week. :)

- A Study In Charlotte, which I've seen consistently at least once a week for about two months..."
Brigitte,
Thank you! I also have my eye on The Crown's Game. I think it comes out on the 17th, so we don't have to wait much longer. I received a few comments on my blog for The Raven Boys and Falling Kingdoms. I just bought The Raven Boys, so that's #1 on my list to read, especially with everyone telling me how amazing it is. I also started reading a few chapters of Red Rising, but I'm not sure how many people have read it at this point. An Ember in the Ashes is another one I'm curious about. I'm unfamiliar with A Study In Charlotte. I'll have to check it out. I want to send out an e-mail to the group once we have a list of choices. Thank you! Awesome suggestions!

Here's my post for worst lines of dialogue. https://rantandraveaboutbooks.com/201...
Go ahead and add a link to your post here or leave a link in my post so I can check it out. I can't wait to see what everyone came up with.

A few bloggers have asked me about switching up the format for Hype or Like Friday. We're only one month into this group, so if you have a suggestion you want to make, don't be shy.
Aria mentioned doing a theme with the book of the month.
I'm suggesting that if you don't want read or have already read the BOTM, that you pick another hyped-up book to read and review. I like being able to discuss the BOTM with everyone, but I didn't read Passenger because it didn't interest me, and I doubt I'll read The Winner's Curse. Instead, I'm going to read the runner-up, The Young Elites and a few others.
If you have ANY suggestions, whether it's ideas for weekly discussion topics, BOTM ideas for the next poll, or a different concept, leave a response in this thread.

The poll closed on Monday for the May BOTM, and The Winner's Curse had the highest number of votes, making it our next hyped-up book.
May Discussion Topics:
Friday, May 6th: Best or Worst Lines of Dialogue From a Hyped-Up Book
Friday, May 13th: Tragically Bad or Superbly Awesome Books
(Feel free to pick any genre. It would be nice to see some Hyped-Up books on the list, but if you can't think of any, go with whatever you want.) (Go ahead and change the title if you want. That was the first thing that popped into my head.)
Friday, May 20th: When Do You Consider a Book to Have Reached Hype Status? (There's no right or wrong answer here.)
Friday, May 27th: Review of The Winner's Curse or a review of a Hyped-Up book of your choosing.
I'm also posting a separate thread for us to discuss the format of the group for June. Several bloggers have asked about switching up the way the group is structured. We're only one month into Hype or Like, so if you want to throw some ideas out there, please feel free to jump in on the discussion titled "Suggestions for June."
