That's a great idea, Aria. I have 5 books on my Kindle right now that are partially read, all of which I'm behind on my reviews. And I still have a few ARCs that I'm supposed to read and review for NetGalley. There's so many good books out there that it's hard to decide on one :)

Hi Sarina,

I'm Jill, one of the three moderators for the group. Welcome and thanks for joining! I just followed your blog. I really like your writing prompts. What a great writing exercise. I'm also a writer and I blog over at rantandraveaboutbooks.com. The discussion topics each Friday will be a lot of fun. I can't wait to see what you post!

Hi Aria,

I'm Jill, one of three moderators and book bloggers over at rantandraveaboutbooks.com. Welcome to the group! I also love YA fantasy, as does Larkin and Britt. We have quite a few hyped-up books on the list that fall into that genre. Truthwitch, The Winners Curse, and The Young Elites are up for vote for May's book of the month. The poll is at the bottom of the homepage when you get a chance.

Awesome topic ideas! I was also wondering what makes these books so hyped-up. Is it Amazon, Goodreads, and the publishers hyping them up? We will get to the bottom of this...
186824 Hyped-Up Discussion Topics for the Month of April:

Book of the Month- Passenger by Alexandra Bracken

April 8th- Top 10 Hyped-Up Books

April 15th- Q1- If you could travel through time, where would you go? (A particular event in time, decade, etc.)
Q2- If you could travel to a fictional place, where would you go?
You can do one or both of the questions. This is entirely up to you.

April 22nd- Choose a book you've read and pair it with a song that reminds you of the book. (The book/song can be new or old. It's whatever you like and what reminds you of the story/characters.)

April 29th- Book of the Month Review: Passenger
(This is an open topic. However you would normally review a book- i.e. character development, plot, writing style, etc.)

You can do as many or as little as you want. If you can't think of something one week, no worries, just post when you're feeling inspired. Be sure to include #HypeorLike or #HypeorLikeFriday, whichever you prefer, when you post to your book blog, Instagram, YouTube, Tumblr, etc. Please mention the group in your post with a link back to the page so that other bloggers can find us.

186824 How Does Hype or Like Fridays Work?

Each month, we'll select a book that the group will read over the course of the month. On the last Friday of that month, you'll post your review via book blog, bookstagram, YouTube, Tumblr, etc. and mention #HypedFridays. This will help us attract potential new members to the group.

The first, second, and third weeks of that same month you'll post your answers to the discussion questions listed in the thread for that month. It's okay if you don't have anything that week, just join in when you're feeling inspired and have something you want to share.

Before the last Friday of the current month, we'll post the discussion topics for the following month under the discussion topics thread. If there's a specific topic you want to discuss during the weeklies or have a suggestion for the "book of the month," don't be shy, all are welcome to voice their opinions.

Instead of rating the books, you'll either "Hype it" or "Like it." Feel free to use the hype and like pictures under the Photos link on the group home page for your post.

Stay tuned for updates each week and feel free to share the link to your post with the group on the discussion boards.

186824 Hey guys,

I'm Jill @ http://rantandraveaboutbooks.com and I'm a book blogger, focusing mainly on YA and NA fantasy, romance, contemporary, horror, paranormal, magical realism... I'll read pretty much any genre that has a good story, strong main characters, great dialogue, and brilliant prose.

The format of my blog is "Rant" or "Rave", which is what I use to determine a rating for the book, instead of stars or thumbs up or down. I have yet to write a "Rant", although I have read a few books in the past year that have warranted one. I like to switch up my posts each week. For the most part, I do one book review per week, whether it's an ARC or book I bought on my own. I also post every Wednesday for T5W and I try to include different content for bloggers and fun posts about TV shows and movies that stemmed from books.

Right now, my favorite authors are Jamie McGuire, Colleen Hoover, Teresa Mummert, Kasie West, Elle Kennedy, Kody Keplinger, James Dashner, and Kiera Cass. I could keep going. My favorite authors of all time are J.K. Rowling, Stephen King, and John Grisham. My favorite story is The Iliad, which is actually an epic poem, not a book, but it's in print format so that counts, sort of.

So, now that you know a little bit about me, please share a little something about yourself so we can all get to know one another.

186824 Hello and welcome to Hype or Like Fridays. I'm Jill from http://rantandraveaboutbooks.com. I'm one of three book bloggers/moderators for this group.

The idea for this group started with a post on Twitter from Larkin @ http://wonderfilledreads.com. We were discussing A Darker Shade of Magic, then Britt @ http://geronimoreads.blogspot.com recommended we read Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. From there, we began a 140 character discussion about overly hyped books and if they were worth reading.

So far, we've compiled a large list of new and old Hyped-Up books under the Hyped-Up Book Links thread. We also started a discussion board with suggestions for weekly posts. Please feel free to add your own ideas and books to either of these boards.

"There are no bad ideas, only great ideas that go horribly wrong." Yep, I just quoted 30 Rock.

This is a group created by book bloggers for book bloggers, booktubers, bookstagramers, etc. Whatever method you use to review books you are welcome to join. All that we ask is that you mention the group in your blog post, YouTube video, etc.
