I keep thinking the names Kate (h?) and Sam, but possibly not.

Her male BFF is a bartender in a flash club and convinces her to come. It’s invite only, so he gives her a name of an invitee who never shows up.

The H owns the club and finds her and realised she’s not invited, but he’s interested.

There’s a back room special VIP section that the BFF wants to get bumped into - not realising that it is the supernatural only zone to do as they please. When the H offers the h a drink, she insists on going to the BFF station so he can show the boss how good he is. The boss sees, but can’t bump him to the supernatural room, so thinks about rewards since he is a good showman.

I think H wants h to stay, but she insists on leaving. This is all a bit fuzzy, but I seem to remember a dim scary car park down the road where something happens.

I was reading a lot of Dean Koontz but can’t connect the blurbs.
Possibly a short story or part of a compilation

The end scene (I think) is sticking with me, so spoilers.

The 3 kids: around 10, 2 boys, 1 girl. Think they’re brothers & sister. They are psychic and have used their abilities to help bring about the chaos that burning the world down.

They are sitting on the beach, watching the world burn in the distance and discussing something like how they are the next level of humans so it doesn’t matter how everyone else is dying. But then they realise that the unborn baby (incest) seems to be more powerful than they are, so that could be a problem.
