That's an interesting video, thank you.
I've had a little look on Google, and found these interesting tips for people who have a fear of public speaking: http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-co...Maybe look up some famous quotes on equality and add those into your speech, statistics are good too.
Hope that helps :)
Ha. Yes indeed, i'm not sure where you are but the "tampon tax" has been tackled here in the UK recently too. Luckily, it's going to be scrapped and apparently:"The £15m raised each year from charging VAT on tampons will be used to fund women's health and support charities" the chancellor has announced.
Reading this has made me really angry - It's difficult to believe that in this day & age this sort of thing still happens (& often). It's absolutely disgusting!
Anja wrote: "I'd like to apologise for assuming that because Hermione is not portrayed as working, she is not a role model."Don't worry :-) it's not you. I think it is the impression bell hooks had of Hermione as an adult is of this drab woman who has sacrificed her intelligence and job for her children (or that's the impression I got from the interview). This is only what she perceived through watching the last part of the films though I think. To be fair, the 19 years later scenes do look drab and I can see why they wold give this impression!
Yeah just because Hermione is a mother, it doesn't mean she no longer works or has given up on her intelligence to look after the sprogs!I myself am a mother, I still go to work and still do the chores at home too as well as spend time on here of course ;-)
Also, bell hooks mentions the appearence of Hermione at the end. To be fair I think the same can be said for Harry and Ron too...they all look a bit, drab? As someone who is now at the same sort of age as Harry, Hermione and Ron are supposed to be at the end, I can safely say I do not dress like that!

Love this, it's like a tattoo :)
Caitlin wrote: "Amazon are selling it for £17 now and I want to avoid paying this price!"True! and with P&P makes it £20..and for a paperback book that is 2nd hand :-o
Yes, i've only seen it on amazon and ebay.I guess it's worth checking your local charity shops too - just incase you hit the jackpot ;-)
Wowsa Mat, your insanely talented, I absolutely love these! They are so beautiful - must have taken you ages!Great job! i'm still not sure when the whole artwork thing will be decided, but let's hope it is soon!

Our apologies for the slight delay with this, but here it is! the video from Wednesday's Emma Watson and Gloria Steinem event, exclusively for Our shared Shelf members first!https://www.goodreads.com/group/17958...
Direct YouTube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tm6ES...
Enjoy!
Jayce wrote: "I would assume that several of the questions asked on this thread will be cut out, since Miss Watson probably asked her own questions, and the audience too "Great guess!
Emma did have lots of her own questions which she started with, she then went on to read a few questions from this thread and then asked the audience.
I have no idea how much (if any) of the talk will be edited out...but it will be with us soon.
I have received word with apologies that the video is slightly delayed, it is taking a little longer than expected - but should be with us within the next couple of days. It will be shared here on Our Shared Shelf first exclusively - so keep your eyes peeled. :)
Ashwin wrote: "It is 21:07 hrs in England so is it safe to assume that we don't get to watch the interview tonight?"I don't think so, no.
I think perhaps editing is taking longer than anticipated.
