I know, and in a way I think we can't be too surprised at this - colonisation and the patriarchy are everywhere. But I think it wouldn't be right to dismiss the whole book, it's not him who has written it.

I'm glad I could help!

Terese Marie Mailhot now lives in the States, so it only makes sense in a way that the publisher is from the States too.

And if someone sends it to you? Would that be an option?

Then welcome on bord!

It's always worth a try.
Another thing that might be a possibility (for everyone), is to look into university libraries. I got many books that we have read via my university's library and at least here in Austria you don't have to pay to issue a card, nor for borrowing. Also, here in Austria you don't have to study at the university and you still get access to at least some parts of the library. It's worth asking I think, as this is the cheapest way I can think of getting hold of a book. Also, I have two such cards for two university libraries, and they still don't make me have to pay anything at either of them for borrowing a book.
You might want to look into that as well.

Could I just a..."
Maybe you could get books via inter-library book exchanges. I can get books my library doesn't have via other libraries, requesting them from my library - you should give it a try, maybe it works!

I feel so too and it makes me very happy.

I feel the same Laure, the why and why that book is what I am looking forward to when Emma announces a new book.
OSS will be around as long as there are people who will be around.

What do you mean? How comes Sherman Alexie into the discussion here? (Yes, I know what he did!)

Couldn't Watson have an assistant and/or publicist do the announcement?"
Why would she need someone else to do it?
We can be around as long as we want, we're not obliged to be here...

Could I just ask for availab..."
You can always ask in the Pay-It-Forward thread.

And I hope I don't have to wait weeks until it gets here...
Off to the book shop for me!

Don't compare stuff that isn't comparable.
And it is quite ironic really, how you speak of that doctor insisting on stuff and not giving all options...
And what again, please, is "normal"? "Normal" depends on the person, as for different people there is a different "normal".
Yes, we need to find out more about hormones, because we still don't know everything about how they work...
And I'm pretty sure you'd be the one "blinded by love" - because you cannot accept natural variation.
Why, oh why is it that all doctors think the same? And not actually listen to us shouting it from the rooftops?

Well you know, intersectionality is key... Women are not a monolith...

One of the most memorable moments of the year for me, so far, was the honor of walking beside activist and friend, Marai Larasi at the Golden Globes. Along with learning that movements a..."
THANK YOU Emma, for choosing this book!
I can't wait to read it!

For making him feel the ecstasy of sex..
Any ideas?"
There have been pressed charges and won charges when it comes to IGM which you would know if you would look it up. Also, the legal situation regarding surgeries and possible reparations/claims etc. is very different around the world and to say there is a one-size-fits-all model for everywhere.
About sexual relationship - that's a huge topic. Like, HUGE!

You know, instead of taking a step back after our first responses and searching the web (it's just a few clicks away...) you didn't alter your thoughts at all and just kept continuing...
As for the being more specific:
I am not obliged to tell you anything about me, and I especially won't when there are people like you around.
Would you ask a survivor of sexual abuse or rape to be specific about what they had to go through? So if you don't do it in their case, why should I have to tell you?
Why can't you respect people's boundaries?
As I said, the internet is open, you CAN search something, instead of remaining uninformed.

You're very welcome, it is a very good book.

Okay, first things first:
It DOES happen, 5 children in the US alone each day. So you can go and see and demand that something will change, well, people have done so for 21 years now and actually not that much at all has changed. It is STILL happening.
Secondly, Donald Trump was not elected by the majority of the People, but the political system and how it works.
And the other thing: You are going in a direction that the Nazis would very much approve of, and I am sure you don't want that, right?
".the father's and the mother's chromosomes can be genetically modified to overcome this" - you're talking about a thing here that I can't stand for, because to use IVF to ensure that someone is not born intersex is something that I equate to murder. And it is screwed anyways because intersex is about more than about chromosomes and genes...
Your attitude of not listening and being totally defensive all the time is not what one can consider an appropriate form of discussion, so please spare us from it.

I especially love the last one, this instant feeling of belonging to one another. Gosh, you need to read the book to get it.
