No unfortunately. I guess it was a federal grant the decided not to continue. So guess I'll pay for it.

Ok, sorry I haven't replied or set anything up. I'm behind at work because of snow days, I started my masters degree and have 2 classes for it, and I am leaving for Atlanta tomorrow to go to the American Library Association's conference for 5 days. Things have been nuts. So, I plan to read enough that I like the idea of both. I will make threads for both! Feel free to start a thread for A if you are ready. I am reading a C author right now. Of course I just finished a Y author! UGH. What are the chances of that again?!
Here is the author alphabet:

Ok well I'm going to read enough to do both. First I have to finish my clock, but I think I will do alphabet authors and a monthly genre. I'll work on setting those up. Let me know what u would like to be a part of and I'll add u. I think for genre, we will just alternate choosing each month depending on how many people we have that want to do it.

Months? That's interesting. I don't know if there would be that many? Hmmm. Yeah I don't want to have zero freedom. Maybe like a category a month?

So I finally finished at the very last minute. Technically finished the last little bit on new years day....so, now that it's 2017, what do we do? I have considered doing the alphabet with authors names, or just doing some other sort of list. Maybe having each person in the group create a few categories. I am going to finish the clock since I never did that, but that is only 12. Anyone interested in doing some sort of challenge list this year? If so, what sort of ideas do you have?

I finally finished on new years day technically, but I am counting it!
Zero Day was my final book. I really enjoyed it. Government, security, hacking, secrets. Pretty good!

Haha, exactly Kevin. We are too easily distracted.

Exactly! I am 44 books in for the year, I think. I still have 1 letter and 7 left on the clock challenge somehow...lol

I read
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer and really enjoyed it. I think I might actually like the 2nd one better. I love unreliable protagonists that don't quite have all the pieces themselves so you are trying to puzzle it out. She has PTSD flashes and trouble seeing hallucinations and flashbacks, so what is real or not with her is interesting. Her family dynamics are also really fun. It's a little too much love story for me. The love interest reminds me a little of Edward Cullen or Christian Grey which I dislike, but I like him better than either of them. I am reading the second one now, and she has a revelation at the end of the first book which is making this one interesting so far. I am still not sure if I can trust her judgement, so we will see!

Kevin wrote: "Variant (Variant, #1) by Robison Wells Kept my interest although I'm not sure I will finish the series"Yeah, I never made it past chapter 1 of book 2. Strange concepts, but book one was okay.

I already had my T book but wanted to share another I enjoyed. It is Torn Away by Jennifer Brown. It is set in Missouri and based off the Joplin tornado. I just really enjoyed it. In fact, it made me cry, and I don't cry in books often. I could probably count the times on one hand. I think other people in this area would enjoy it as well. It was especially interesting to read the author note at the end as she reflected on the tornado. She is also from Missouri. It is also on the Gateway list this year which is the Missouri teen book award list.

It's weird. I started the second one but abandoned it for other things.

I read
The Young Elites. My students are really liking it, but I struggled to get through. I really love the Legend series by this author, so I was hopeful, but not satisfied.

I ended up reading
Variant. It was strange, but a decent read.

I finally finished
The List, and wasn't much of a fan. I started reading this soooo long ago when I was actually on L. In the meantime, I have finished all other letters besides U and Z, both of which I have lined up, but am waiting on, so that should tell you how motivated I was to finish it...

cool! I made a shelf in goodreads and a google doc list like this to keep track too

I'm glad you liked it! I have enjoyed it too.

Yay for finished! I've been reading my L book for several weeks and read others instead. Need to finish it and do U, V, and Z and I'll be done too! Then I'll try the clock numbers lol!

Lol I'm going to count mine too then and stop looking at x books! Lol yay for being done.
