Yep, it's all good. Doesn't matter what the subject matter is.

As Jeffrey says, if they're in an anthology, the entire anthology counts. And if the individual stories are big enough to have their own separate listings here on Goodreads (e.g., they're really novella sized), that would count as well.

My answer: I read pretty broadly, but fantasy and historical are my go-tos. However, my goal to read all the classics means that classic novels are usually the "genre" I read most of every year.

Awesome, because I want to read that very book, t..."
It was one of my favorite reads last year!

No page count. If it's an anthology of short stories that recognized in Goodreads system, it counts.

I've got a bookmark in four right now:
On the Road Classic. 'Nuf said.
Brave New World Revisited It came as a bonus in the back of the paperback version of Brave New World, which I just finished.
The Last Boy: Mickey Mantle and the End of America's Childhood Got it on a Kindle sale a long time ago.
On Guard: Defending Your Faith with Reason and Precision Got it on the recommendation of Wordplayer Garrett Amerson.

Yep, just to your own personal bookshelf, so you can verify at year's end that you have 100.

Thus far besides Hitc..."
Great to hear you're enjoying it! I had a lot of fun with the minor characters in this one.

Heh, but you know how he feels about getting smothered. ;)

I was not planning to count the 2009 book as part of my tally unless I actually read it again. I was just entering books I've read, want to read and are reading. If you would prefer..."
No, not all re-reads are fine! Goodreads will update the finish date to this year, so it will count.

I'm afraid magazines don't count. As for comic books, I've told others elsewhere that they'll count if they're part of a "volume," such as Neil Gaiman's Marvel 1609.

ARCs are understood and accepted, so it won't look weird. You can also comment that you were reading an advance copy. And, yes, you can change the rating at any time.
However, note that a book read in 2009 won't count for this year's reading challenge.

I would guess that it counts as one if they have only ..."
Depends how Goodreads tallies them. Usually, the anthology is considered a single book.

No need to report (unless you want to, in order to discuss the book). Goodreads will silently record your tally throughout the year, then in December, if you've read 100, it will let you know in your year-end tally, which you can share at that time.

No, not at all. The word count question was a tangent. In order to compete in the reading challenge, all you have to do is mark each book you read as "completed" here on Goodreads.
