Jul 19, 2024 06:02AM

174195 It's time for our next round of suggestions!

Just a reminder that you can find a full list of prompts already on the 2024 list in the third post on this thread.

How Suggestions Work:
- The topics for the 2024 reading challenge list will be determined by a series of mini-polls, the number of which depends on the number of prompts winning in each mini-polls
- Suggestions for each poll will be opened until 15 suggestions are received and “seconded”.
- The voting thread will open the day after suggestions go live. You can find the schedule here.

Rules:
- Each member can only suggest OR second one prompt
- Suggestions close after 15 total seconded prompts

When suggesting and seconding, feel free to provide examples and descriptions that may help other members understand the prompt better. These descriptions and examples will be copied over to the voting thread for further discussion.

As always, please express any and all feedback (respectfully, of course), either here or in The Wild Discussion.

A REMINDER: This week is our ONE multi-week poll! This is the only week you will be allowed to submit prompts that span multiple weeks, and those are the only types of prompts that should be submitted.

174195 I mean, over 100 people voted for the mystery/true crime prompt so it definitely had its supporters!

Jul 17, 2024 06:44PM

174195 I would say that in all my years of watching the poll numbers, multi-week is the poll that gets the most amount of downvotes only submissions, or 1 or 2 up only. Makes sense - if you know the number of prompts are limited to just 6 total weeks, you might be more strategic with how you vote.

I will say, as I've been looking at previous lists, we are a lot less likely to have a 4 week prompt voted in than we were in the past.
Jul 15, 2024 06:33AM

174195 You can add books to the lists if it fits! No need to wait until you've read it (unless you aren't sure if it fits or not until after you've read it lol).

The spreadsheet is there for people to track what they've already crossed off for the challenge (or to plan for next year), or you can do like Denise mentioned and start a thread in our 2024 Plans folder.

There's no one tracking your challenge but you, though we do have a completion thread where you can post once you're finished so we can all celebrate with you! (Even if you completed half of the challenge -- we will celebrate you meeting whatever goal you set for yourself.)
