174195 Bec, the mods were talking about how decisive our group has been this year with the bottom votes. There seems to be a consensus every poll - the bottoms have been getting big numbers lol. I'm not sure if it's the quality of prompt or the mix of voters or what, but the bottom votes have been very clear this year.

174195 Thanks Andrea! How fun to see all As (even if we didn't have the pencils for it lol)
Sep 22, 2024 11:09AM

174195 I just added the 2 available pencils to History, since we've finished that one as well!
Sep 22, 2024 11:07AM

174195 The pencils had the same criteria as last read-a-thon, but we had less members per team. I made 6 teams thinking we would have an influx of people joining late (as we typically do), but we didn't have as many this time around. Definitely made it harder to qualify for pencils with less people reading/listening.

174195 Ah, Angela, I added him because he appears on multiple lists I found of Irish authors. How annoying!
Sep 22, 2024 07:12AM

174195 I added One Dark Window as the EGOT prompt!

If y'all are also doing the individual challenge, don't forget to post your completion today!

174195 We do already have “set in nature” and “alternative timelines” - both of which could skew science/sci-fi.
Sep 22, 2024 06:38AM

174195 This was a pretty definitive poll. There was at least 20 net votes difference between the tops and the next closest prompts.

174195 Results are posted for Poll 14!

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

The next round of suggestions will open around noon on Monday, September 23.

And a note: Our close calls poll will replace Poll 16. We will *not* have suggestions that week, but rather, we will be using our close calls list (and a select few others with high net votes to get to 15 prompts). That list will be posted on the day suggestions would have opened for Poll 16.

174195 Absolutely go with the translated prompt!

174195 I think I'd rather us be a C student across the board than having As and Fs, so I'd say if you're picking books, aim for either Literature or Art so we can get those to C level.
174195 Yes, audiobooks count as books, though I don't know if it would meet the 100 minute requirement? It doesn't have a length on the main page.

174195 Thanks, dalex. Yes, the mods decided that by the time the polls are done, having another poll for the 2025 prompt would have been too much, and we wanted to keep the 2025 prompt in the same spirit as the other years' so we wanted to use a prompt from the existing list.

So yes, you would just read that prompt twice in 2025!

174195 Results have been posted for the final (voted in) prompt on our Anniversary List!

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Sep 20, 2024 06:29AM

174195 And our final prompt on our anniversary list is...

12. A book that has been on your TBR for over a year

We will announce the 2025 prompt when the final list is posted! I'll give you a hint though.

The prompts in the top five net votes (with a couple ties) currently are:

A book whose title has ten or fewer letters
A book that fits a prompt from the 2016 ATY list
A mystery or true crime book
A book by an author you enjoyed but haven't gotten around to reading again for some time
A book involving a "group" with at least 4 members that's not a family
A book connected in some way to any collective noun for animals

(Obviously, the final prompt could be none of these if a prompt in a current or future poll outranks these, but I wanted to give y'all an idea of what may make it)

174195 And as someone who is firmly millennial, I associate it with older generations (Boomers, mainly) who have the wall decor and throw pillows in their homes that say "Live Laugh Love" and "A home is where the heart is" and other phrases like that.

So less about positivity and more about home decor lol
