I made the decision a couple of weeks ago not to read it. The reviews just convinced me not to make the attempt.

I just bought a group of the Otto Penzler American Mystery Classics marked down to a great price by my local independent mystery bookstore so I'm going to nominate one of them. Death on the Aisle by Frances Lockridge and Richard Lockridge.

I have read The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency and it was a lot of fun.
I don't know if you are still looking for suggestions for series for buddy reads but one of my favorites is the John Putnam Thatcher series by Emma Lathen, Most are available on Kindle for a modest price. First in the series is Banking on Death. There are 24 books in the series.

I have seen enough cruelty and neglect in real life not to want to read about it. Even in a murder mystery. I have knocked a star off my rating especially when the death of the animal added nothing to the plot.

Certainly a variety of reactions to this one. I thought the characterization was great and I was not disappointed with the solution.
There is no mention of what happens to them but I feel sorry for the two boys. Megan did not appear to be terribly fond of her half brothers so I don't suppose they would take them in. Maybe they just spend the rest of their young lives at boarding school.

I guess I got in just under the wire on this one. Started it day before yesterday. Enjoying it so far. Just read a few a time.
