I absolutely wish Cyril Hare had lived to write more books. From now on every few years or so I will just have to reread. Inspector Mallett who fiqures in several of the Pettigrew titles was his original series character. His titles without Pettigrew being Tenant for Death, Death is No Sportsman, and Suicide Excepted. I liked them all.

This is my favorite Marsh title. I have reread it many times. One of my favorite scenes is with the retired vicar and his wife. The frequent characters seen in many golden age mysteries. Absent minded head in the clouds minister kept organized by his wife. Sayers had great ones in The Nine Tailors and Busman's Honeymoon.
I will be reading for the first time. Earlier in the year when I was checking on options for getting the titles for the challenge I found my local library had 4 copies of this book. I wasn't really worried about being able to get it right away. To my surprise at the moment they are all checked out. I have put it on hold.

I have to admit I was having a very hard time getting into this until the carriage started down the creek. Now it's got me.
As I was doing my voting today I noticed Death of a Bookseller was on the list of books nominated for the July read in the English Mysteries Club.
I would call this one a 3.5. It kept me interested but it wasn't a stay up until 2 in the morning to finish.
Like many others his run for parliament seemed out of the blue but I guess you had to get him to that location for some reason and it gave lots of opportunity for commentary on human nature and politics. I really enjoyed this book. I would have been happier if he had spared the pig.
I don't really know how many times I have read this. It is one of my favorites. I am always moved by the situation the Thodays find themselves in and the sad outcome. I wish Sayers had brought back Hilary Thorpe in later books. Since Wimsey was her trustee and it appears she would be at Oxford it would have been natural for him to keep up with her.
I did finish this one but it was not a page turner for me. I agree with those who couldn't quite figure out why Marie got all these people back together. I was not invested in the characters.
This was my 21st Lorac plus one written by her as Carol Carnac. I rated 2 titles 5 stars and the rest have been 4 stars. McDonald is one of my favorite series detectives ever. I will never quite understand why they have been out of print so long. I hope they republish them all and if they do will be sad when the last one comes out. As usual this one kept me excited to keep reading. I did not find the section with the journalist annoying but am always glad when McDonald is front and center.

This was certainly a contrast to Miss Climpson in Strong Poison who held out against the arguments of the other jurors. I wonder if it made a difference that she was holding out for innocence not guilt?
I plan to be in on this read. Put it on hold atlibrary a while back. They only have one copy and it is checked out. Due tomorrow so hope they don't want to get a fine and bring it back on time.
I didn't read The Hollow Man, Malice Aforethought or Hercule Poirot's Christmas. Tragedy at Law was my only 5 star read. Murder at Monk's Barn, The Missing Partners, Whose Body?, The Studio Crime, Inspector French's Greatest Case were all 4 star. The Three Taps, The Red Thumb Mark and Death in Fancy Dress 3 star. Fancy Dress was my least favorite. I re read The Golden Age of Murder and I think it is an interesting and useful book. Tragedy at Law, Whose Body and Studio Crime were also rereads.
I am having a hard time with this one. It doesn't hold my interest. I have finished 2 other books since I started it.
I bought An English Murder, The Wind Blows Death and Untimely Death He Should Have Died Hereafter on Kindle in May of 2020 and now only The Wind Blows Death is still available.
