Task: CS #10. You want to compliment a clerk. Read a book that you think is pretty.
Fits: Pretty cover

Duration: June 1 - June 30, 2018
Completed: 7/12
✔ 1. I’m going on a picnic. Game play: You can go on a picnic and take something that begins with the first letter of your first name – so Stacie, SandyL, or I could take spaghetti, sandwiches, scalpels (just sayin') on the picnic since our names begin with an S. Berit could take books; Michelle, medical supplies; Armi, alligators etc. But the person who starts the game can set other rules too – like only edible things, or only things that are green.
🚘 Read a book that has a word in the title that begins with the same letter as your Goodreads Username and is something tangible you could take on a picnic whether appropriate or not. If your username begins with a number, symbol, or seems too difficult, you can also opt to use an 'M' for Mr. Monopoly.
Murder in Chinatown by Victoria Thompson 6-1-2018 | 4* {coffee}
2. Would you Rather. . . ? You can learn a lot about your car mates with this car game. Since you didn't bring a deck of cards for you, you will have to come up with your own questions. Here's one: Would you rather dress for one year as . . . Spock from Star Trek (including the ears) OR like The Cat in the Hat (including the whiskers and tail)?
🚘 Read a book tagged SPACE OPERA on the first page of tags OR
🚘 Read a book with stripes on the cover.
✔ 3. Twenty Questions. You have 20 questions to figure out what the person is thinking. With no electronic version of this, you'll need to use that noggin. Start broad and get more specific as you go – Is it an animal, vegetable or mineral?
🚘 Read a book in which 20 is intact in the total number of pages
Spilled Coffee by J.B. Chicoine 6-2-2018 | 3* {320 pages}
✔ 4. Fortunately/Unfortunately. This one is pretty simple and fun. It’s a progressive story with a catch – each person adds a sentence to the story, but must start that sentence with fortunately or unfortunately, alternating as you go. So Jim went to the store for a drink. Unfortunately it was closed. Fortunately he found a soda machine. Unfortunately it didn’t take dollar bills. You get the idea.
🚘 Read a book in which both FORTUNATELY and UNFORTUNATELY can be found in the text
The Perfect Neighbors by Sarah Pekkanen 6-2-2018 | 3* {Pages 89 & 125}
✔ 5. Cows on my Side. This one is my father’s favorite game. It also sharpens your math skills. Count the cows on your side of the road. Pass a cemetery, lose all your cows and start over.
🚘 Read a book with the word PASTURE found in the text
The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead 6-5-2018 | 3*
Page 63 > ...colored flowers from the PASTURE...
✔ 6. Slug Bug. This road trip game is all about spotting Volkswagen Bugs and being the first to shout it out. Our shout had to include the color and came with a punch. Proceed with caution as this one could get a bit violent.
🚘 Read a book that includes a violent act in the story line OR
The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman 6-4-2018 | 3*
7. Who am I? This is a guessing game where players use yes and no questions to guess the identity of a famous person. So you might ask Is it a woman? No. Was he ever president? Yes. Was he a general? Yes Did he live in Virginia? Yes. Is he George Washington? Yes.
🚘 Read a Biography, Autobiography, or Memoir OR
🚘 Read a book that mentions a famous historical figure (i.e. Hitler, George Washington, Cleopatra, etc.)
8. Telephone. Tell the person next to you a secret, and have them pass it on. When it gets to the driver, have him say it out loud. You’ll laugh at how the message has changed.
🚘 Read a book with a phone on the cover (landline or cell; NO electronic devises where the primary function is something other than telephoning someone). OR
🚘 Read a book where there is a breakdown in communication among characters in the story line
9. Rock, paper, scissors. It’s an oldie but a goodie, and most kids can be entertained playing this for many hours. Pound your fist three times than come up with a fist for rock, index and middle finger for scissors and a flat hand for paper. Rock crushes scissors. Scissors cut paper. Paper covers rock.
🚘 Pick your weapon (ROCK, PAPER, or SCISSORS) and read a book where all the author's first and last name initials can be found in that weapon of choice. OR
🚘 Pick your weapon (ROCK, PAPER, or SCISSORS) and read a book with that object on the cover.
✔ 10. Restaurant Race Each player chooses a restaurant, such as Burger King, Subway, IHOP, etc. Players earn points by spotting their restaurant off the road, on a billboard, on exit markers, on Food/Fuel signs, or by hearing it mentioned on the radio.
🚘 Read a book where the characters order food from any type of restaurant at some point in story
Y is for Yesterday by Sue Grafton 6-7-2018 | 3*
✔ 11. The Theme Song Game One person hums the tune to a favorite TV show, and everyone else tries to name the show as fast as possible. The first person to guess correctly hums the next song.
🚘 Read a book where the main character sings out loud at some point in the story.
A Light in the Wilderness by Jane Kirkpatrick 6-9-2018 | 3*
12. I-Spy. Its a classic. Sharpen kids power of perception with this game. Find something and have them guess what it is you found. Give the kids clues until they figure it out. Now, I spy with my little eye something on Mr. Monopoly's Bookshelves.
🚘 Read a book that can be found on Mr. Monopoly's shelves. OR
🚘 Read a book where one character spies on another.

Since Diane and I already have a task to read for, I'm good with someone else reading for this one.
