I would say the book spoils the movie, but that's just me.
154805 He said boobies.
154805 Hm, yeah, I am reminded of a book that I can kick myself for not reviewing - oh wait, if I tell you the name of the book, you will know that the first-person narrator died in the end, and that might kinda amount to a spoiler, hmmm?

Ssspeaking of ssspoilers, don't forget there is a thread here in which you can sssspeak your sssspoilers: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
154805 I had such a mad day yesterday that I forgot to wish you all MERRY CRAZY MAD HATTER DAY!! for yesterday, October 6.

My day was pretty crazy enough, and a bunch of things in it made me mad! :P

HOW Mad Hatter Day STARTED

I love this one:

154805 People, please don't forget that we all agreed to read If on a Winter's Night a Traveler in November, eh? Just reminding you. We can maybe squeeze female man in just after that and before Fahrenheit 451?

BTW, I had such a mad day yesterday that I forgot to wish you all HAPPY CRAZY MAD HATTER DAY!! for yesterday, October 6.

154805 I've been thinking; even though they're short stories, let's make a thread for each of them. Then I'll post the index to those threads, in this thread.

First one:

Whistle and I'll Come for you My Lad by M.R. James
154805 This thread is to discuss Whistle and I'll Come for you My Lad, by M. R. James.

154805 Hmm, how about we discuss the first 9 chapters in this current thread, and then the
Start of Chapter 10 to end of Chapter 13 here:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

and then the last bunch of chapters and the ending and everything here :

154805 Ok, and in this thread you can say anything about the novella, ha ha ha.No spoilers barred.
154805 Ok, let rip with those spoilers, but only up to the end of chapter 13. I know this is a quick read, but some of us don't have time and the surprises come quickly in this story.

Okay, first thing - the setting. I don't know where Styria is, but this is nevertheless the classical Gothic setting- the looming schloss or castle set in the gloomy countryside in a dark forest, complete with moat and drawbridge. Hmm, I wonder by whose standards this is "modest"? Heheh.

154805 Eeek! Spoilers! I'd forgotten the detail of the story, so pls don't spoil me.... *averts eyes and immediately creates a spoiler thread.*

EDIT: Thanks for hiding them eyeball burners, Yolande! :)
154805 Wait, wait, I have to find it still! :P Give it about 4 or 5 weeks? Please? :S

154805 Oh dear, so let me make another thread then for spoiler comments, ha ha. But wait for the rest of us to catch up first. Been really busy with work today....and it will spill over into tonight. :(

154805 Thanks, they're long and didn't have time to read them all to the bottom. :)

154805 OMG, we haven't even started yet, and you're already finished, Amy!

Is Vlad Tepes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vlad_th...
and/or Erzsébet Báthory mentioned in any of those links? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabe...

154805 Hi Randolph, welcome, and thank you for posting! Thanks for the feedback. Just a quick note - we're very nervous of spoilers in our general threads, since many people don't like to know the surprises in stories in advance.
That's why we make separate threads for our stories where people get warned about spoilers in advance. We then actually get to discuss them in detail in our threads that allow for spoilers.

You haven't given away spoilers yet, (although some members might feel that you're starting to go into spoiler territory there) because what you said can be read in blurbs and articles and so forth, but I just always warn new people of this in advance. :) And just a reminder to all members, on how to do spoiler tags. Like this: < spoiler > (type spoiler text here) spoiler text BOO! </spoiler>

The result will be: (view spoiler)
Please use these tags for posting spoilerific material in our "general" threads, which will include the convening threads and "Welcome" threads that don't have the word "spoilers" in the title. Thanks! :)
154805 Hi Helen! Since you are the second person to endorse that one, maybe we should do it first! :)
154805 Thank you, Randolph!
I'm sure we can fit all of those in - our next "big" discussion only starts November 5, and I'm sure members won't mind if we move that on a day or 2... I think I'm literally going to take the names people suggest, and draw lots as to in which order we're going to do them. :)

Noted, thank you, Mark, and added to the M.R. James thread, which members can already clock in on here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
