good job everyone! :)
my favorite so far is probably Cress...? the rest were okay, i was kind of disappointed with most of them. Hyperbole & A Half was HILARIOUS though.
Hi Stacy :) welcome to the group! If you want, you can share your pinterest board here, we'd love to see what you're reading!
yeah, that's fine. we're being pretty flexible about it. :) i thought you said earlier you had some books set in your area, did they not work out?
Hello all :) I am mostly internet buds with some of the core people in this group. The only challenge I really participated in was the debut author challenge (since 2012!). I am reaaallyy bad at expanding beyond my YA fantasy reading comfort zone (like We Were Liars was pushing it for me) so the Popsugar one seemed like a fun group thing I can be part of that helped me expand a teeny tiny bit more.
Now I have to read non-fictions and classics because of you people ('-' )
Other than reading, I basically hang out with my dog and boyfriend and play some video games and try to explore this small city I'm living in. Add me if you like statuses where I almost always use all caps to punctuate my feelings.
you guys, i know this is going to sound ridiculous, but i'm finding less trilogies and more seriesessss (idk what is plural) (4-5 books). can i count that as my trilogy? :|
you could do something as generic as a collection of Nathaniel Hawthorne or Edgar Allen Poe or even Grimm's fairy tales (or Hans Christian Andersen, whichever). I happened to have Tales of Beedle the Bard from a Harry Potter collection so i counted that for my challenge.
i'm taking full advantage of our rule and trying to maximize 3 categories per book if i possible. it's up to your reading goals. i'm doing that because i have other challenges and other books to read, but if you think your reading will be more fulfilling to do one at time, then go for it :>
i actually looked for an SD and found Susan Dennard Something Strange and Deadly. it's a pretty decent book if not a bit predictable.
yeah, i have three libraries linked to mine. hopefully you can get a chicago one, i had an insider help me out with one of them (since i didn't have an address in that city) and houston is free for all texans so that one was easy :D good luck, glad you're enjoying it! audiobooks make car rides so much better.
Rick Riordan was my first thought, Rachel. Percy Jackson is quick, if you just want to get the first book out of the way. It's very MG but entertaining enough. But for mine, I did the old wikipedia search thing. Authors with the last name A, found all the first name S's. I'm so sophisticated, you guys.
EDIT: okay you've already read PJO, lol. well, if you wanted to try his other books, there's that. i can't think of any other RR's off the top of my head right now, but i'll come back if i find some ;)
it's funny that we have to define all these nuanced topics, but here we are. for "based on a true story" can this be like an investigative non-fiction of real life things or is this more like a fictionalized take on a true story?
rachel's suggestion is so much better, omg. do that instead :) thanks, rachel, the book i had for my birthyear was super uninteresting.
i literally googled "books published in 19--" and wikipedia had a list. it's a lot to sift through though :/
hmm are there any books you are looking forward to this year? that's how i'm knocking that one out, pretty easy :D
I found a couple more that have been laying around Goodreads that I didn't really notice before because what-are-antonyms.The one I'll probably read is The Distance Between Lost and Found. So yeah, just searching antonyms can get you some interesting results too.
