leslie! i understand. bring back the image of hunter s. thompson lying like a discarded comma out in the sun. :)

Is that really Allen Ginsberg or a bearded Tobias Funke from Arrested Development? "
hee hee! i'm glad you enjoyed them too. david cross as ginsberg is excellent casting -- i can't believe i didn't realize it before. probably because ginsberg and i aren't on the best of terms: plus i always coveted peter orlovsky. :) actually i also love the trio of auden, spender, and isherwood. :)

dan: i think the group message would be a good idea, if not an actually poll saying, who is ready to start the big sleep? it would suck if people aren't engaged and ready... and i'm fretting that since it's been almost two weeks since you posted about the big sleep and regan's the first post, that maybe people aren't as up for it as they originally thought... if it turns out there's not a lot of interest, i can swap in for the long goodbye if regan is interested, and we two can go along and incite others with our joy. :)

the answer my friend, is rolling down the wind, the answer is rolling down the wind. :)
oh. :P
i haven't read the skipper's book yet. i just noticed that patty called e-monk adorable, and that called like a moth to a flame, whereupon i burned in the raging against and for jennifer weiner's reviewing chops, then decided to leave a cinder for hugh. i never read reviews of a book or film just before i read/see a book/film. only afterwards, or before in early researching stages so that i've forgotten what it said previous to reading/watching. :)

there was something i wanted to say but i have already forgotten. but these journalist parties are not the peppiest, gotta say. :P
happy drunky, everybody!

patty! i love karaoke and theme parties. here are some ideas: duets! that way nobody is shy, and everybody does silly songs like island in the stream, and nobody gets all seriously into the rose. :P and grease soundtrack songs are always good for group songs. that, and piano man. :) i love the karaoke video for superstition. it has a vacuum salesman who encounters strange powers. at least at my karaoke place. also, if somebody duets reunited by peaches and herb you get to see another mental karaoke video where spider-man randomly appears; amazingly i found this on youtube: http://youtu.be/Ipkm4KTyztI?t=1m10s
karaoke generally has a lot of pop hits, with some hard rock and country. you could also try a general theme: i've used fire, or star, or time for other parties as key words for songs.
i wish i was going to your party! i would want to sing hard to handle (black crowes version not otis even though i love the otis i don't mimic him as well, and i've got chris robinson down) or bust a move, my two classic karaoke hits. i do others but those two are do really well. :)
happy friday, everybody!

p.s. MARTYN! YAY!

about the circle line: i got the sense that sybilla is one of the note jobs that tries to get people into conversation. when he describes all the arguments she ends up in! i'd like to also suggest that ludo was being annoying which also got their attention. :P
should we go back and discuss sections when i'm done?
i really feel for ludo about his dad... when i think of all the outside sleeping he did!

the introductory chapter, what with the seminary and all that sort of reminded of the wheat springeth green, and i was worried about being stuck in the seminary, but then when the father decided to start making bets i got excited, and hoped he do some grifting, so i was kind of disappointed when we left him and moved into pre-Ludo. i am very interested in linguistics, but i'm not sure i'm enjoying the way she writes about it. once she started explaining how she taught ludo greek on the circle line i was a little more engaged. i also found it hilarious the way she got pregnant: i've obviously never been that bored before. :P

when i watched swanny's video it reminded me of people we haven't talked to in years. :)
lara posted there quite a bit too, i remember. i hope she comes back! :)
routine? well, i think it's a good time to shake our heads a little bit, and try to find fresh ways of looking at things, and as soon as i came back, i started trying to make some changes, so i feel good about that. :)
time is strange. sometimes it moves too quickly, and other times it seems it is standing still. :)
