Perfect, Dan. Totally, absolutely perfect.
I made a feeble attempt to describe this on FB and ended up just linking back to the group. :)

#5: Mackinac Island.

I'll bet it was still more dramatic than Crossroads of Twilight, where you pray for a typographical error to add some excitement."Adrian, let me put it this way: if you played a drinking game based on typographical errors in this book, you'd be completely plastered by Chapter 2.

Picoult didn't write We Need to Talk About Kevin, Lionel Shriver did.
Picoult's work doesn't do much for me but I see her point.
The mere notion that ANYONE would say Franzen has "profound moral intelligence" makes me gag.

But JE, if you grow a soul patch I'm yanking it off your face next year.

I LOVED that interview, Adrian. Loved it. Especially the part about going to the circus at the end.

If I had a dollar for every person who pushed that book in my face during my divorce I might not need alimony.

Stop. Please stop tormenting me. ;)

Just please promise me that in your entirely new culture you weren't wearing Tommy Bahama clothes. They smell funky and are for golf-playing George Hamilton types.

What happened to the loser of drunk bingo last night.

These are just... you are the best, Adrian. The best.

I'll be a creative services team lead/project manager, responsible for defining a creative process for application development using microsoft platforms, working with clients and writing rfps and sales collateral, staffing up a global team of interactive and visual designers and managing their workload...
Sounds complicated when I say it that way...
I'm sad and happy at the same time. I'm so sorry I'll miss you all this year!

Guys -- I'm sorry to report that at the last moment I won't be coming.
But the good news is, I got a fantastic job that starts next week!

Brian, and his nipples.

My college roommate works for a big NY firm and she handles all of the manga. They have private labels, etc. etc. and one of the "titles" she manages is Pokemon.
The way she described it to me, the people who actually work on Pokemon number at under 100 -- and what they gain from the deal with her is the physical infrastructure of printing, storage, distribution and supply chain management.
But that, too, is changing. I like e-monk's articulation here. I think JE is a good example of how that model can succeed.
Almost like grass-roots fan base. Which is amazing in the world we live in.

Ben I was on a Beckett kick not too long ago -- reading and seeing a couple of plays and then reading some more -- it was a lot of fun. I am not surprised you like him. :)
Oh, wait. Vonnegut. yeah. Vonnegut.

Lara I leave Friday too. And Brian told me to trust the universe that all will work out.
Kerry, my favorite Dr. Who was always the one with the crazy curly hair and the ultra-long scarf, but that may be because I remember watching it on the BBC in the 80s....!

This is going to be great. I'm so happy I get to see you all. :))))))

I read a brief story that said that for the first time last month Amazon sold more versions of Kindle books than actual books.
