this bookstore looks pretty good. not far from roslyn... maybe 30 miles. i've been looking at hiking trails. there are a bunch in the area... easy ones and hard ones. the area around roslyn looks just unbelievable.

15336 Ben, our Ben, just mentioned the other that day that "time has come today"... I'm assuming he's still showing time a good time and feeding it burritos.

15336 Lara... I'll be booking my flight a little later in the week or next week. There will be transportation. We can arrange all of that as time draws near (wish time could draw a little quicker but it's currently at Ben's place). You won't be stranded. You will have a ride. You will have fun.

Again... here's the link: www.NearSuncadia.com

Be sure to check out the links section. There's all kinds of activities in the area: horseback riding, river rafting, hiking, mountain biking... the community the cabin is located in has a swimming pool, volley ball courts and other amenities.

The cabin also has a big hot tub.

I just signed the agreement. I'm responsible for ensuring that we treat Ms Pennie's place with respect and that we don't get too loud. But she's unwavering in her hopes that we have fun. And I do believe we will have fun. I think that's a guarantee.

The one week she told me is one week. That's 7 days AND 7 nights. Sunday night through Saturday night. Check-out will be the following Sunday. Check-in time is 4:00pm on August 1, check-out is 10:00am on August 9.

*** As I was typing this my email beeped... just in from the owner of the cabin ***

You can tell everyone else that your group now "has the Cabin for the first week in August. And yes, we can adjust the numbers if more people show up. But please do study the bed arrangements on the Floor Plan, especially if you think the group might get large enough to need more individual beds or even bedrooms. Roslyn Ridge is a very new Cabin Community (with a great swimming pool!), and very small... and there are several smaller places very close by. (Nothing is far from anything else within the little Community - and Ronald, Roslyn, Cle Elum, and Suncadia are mere minutes away.) We've worked with the other managers or owners (like us, just "managing" our own property) for "overflow" sleeping a few times.

Jay and I had never watched "Northern Exposure" when it ran on TV, but the 1st summer (2008), right after the Cabin was finally finished, we bought the series, and it was quite odd, and then we really got into it, especially because Roslyn DOES look like that (many of the exterior shots were "real"). Jay also knows one of the writer/producers, but he did most (or maybe all?) of HIS work in LA.

I'm planning to add the full series of Northern Exposure to all of the new amenities/activities/etc. that will all be in place long before your arrival. (Get a keg of Roslyn Root Beer to drink while watching! They don't sell it in bottles, or we'd have some waiting in the Fridge for each group. Roslyn (regular) BEER is sold in bottles, however. [But we don't want to leave alcohol for guests... never know if there are cultural or religious objections, or someone with a problem under control who really doesn't need to have a beer staring right out, etc.!:]

There is a little Museum that has some things from Northern Exposure, and mostly very old pictures and other sort of artifacts from the mining going back to the 19th century. And we know the couple who manage the Brick (local Bar, great burgers), so maybe if you'd like a private tour of the "jail" in the basement, where the bartenders used to lock up unruly drunks until they sobered up... My understanding is that this is true, but it's hard to know sometimes.

Later (or sooner, if you prefer), don't hesitate to ask us about anything special the we can arrange, or recommend, etc. We've gotten good reports about river rafting.

Thank you again for choosing The CabinNearSuncadia for your get-together!

This lady rocks!! If anyone is interested in any of the surrounding activities, let me know and I'll pass the info along to her. There are bike rentals and kayak/canoe rentals available.

Hope everyone's excited. I kind of can't wait. But again... last I heard time was still at Ben's place.

15336 Patty, I asked him. Said he was holding for Jane, not JE.

The week is a better deal and I need a place to chill. It's better than a Motel 6. People can drop in and out whenever the need arises. It's free (and easy).
Feb 08, 2010 03:54AM

15336 Ok folks. The place I was going to book seems unavailable. Will know hopefully by tomorrow but don't want to wait more than a day for the owner to get back to me. I fear the longer I wait we may be losing out on other alternatives. He told me it was 'tentatively' booked for the first week of august. I told him I wanted to definitely book it. Screw that tentatively talk.

This place, as of about 4 hours ago, was available. http://nearsuncadia.com/index.htm If everyone is ok with it I'll book and finalize it tomorrow. It sleeps 30 people. There's hiking evidently nearby. I'm still planning for 7 days and I'm still planning on taking care of the accomodation arrangements.

Sleep is coming soon for me and you American people will be rising to a glorious day where the Saints reign supreme. Let me know what you think and I'll take care of it while y'all are sleeping tomorrow night.

The important thing is that whatever I book will HAVE to be for the first week of August. Some have already bought tickets so I'm not going to change dates.

I just want to make sure the accomodations are in place by this week. I've got tickets to get too.

Bri (Martyn, nobody has called me that except for a few ff'ers. I'm cool with it)

15336 Whoa Martyn. Congratulations!

15336 Forget the money. Someone needs to start an event so we can keep track of attendees. I'd do it but am using my phone. No computer around. I'm bringing a sleeping bag and like Patrick I think that porch is perfect. Dates I'll be booking will be August 1-7, that's Sunday to Saturday I believe. Will let you know when it's a done deal. Should be by tomorrow, Pluto time.

15336 is there a link for whatcom (great name)? Or is that the one in ronald, wa?
Feb 05, 2010 08:16PM

15336 young will... ny doll... both places look great. travel time out of seattle is no biggy for me. after crossing the pacific and having a good rest at seatac i'll be ready to pick-up people and head in whatever direction my phone tells me to. i say we jump in on either of these if the time is right and start getting the attendance list in order.
Feb 04, 2010 09:05PM

15336 fingers crossed.
Feb 04, 2010 07:00PM

15336 je... is there a minimum stay? the website says 1 week for the months we're interested in.
Feb 04, 2010 06:49PM

15336 3 nights. any days.
Feb 04, 2010 05:53PM

15336 Another website about the place: http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rent...

And it do say this... The minimum stay is one week from June to August and two nights the rest of the year.

If they charge the max 3500.00 that would be 292/person.

I do like the way the place looks... and sounds.
Feb 04, 2010 05:29PM

15336 I'm a definite.
Feb 04, 2010 05:16PM

15336 and we might need to do a roll call to see how many people are really planning on going.
Feb 04, 2010 05:15PM

15336 anything here? http://www.parks.wa.gov/vacationhouses/

Cape Disappointment is such a great name.
Feb 04, 2010 05:07PM

Jan 30, 2010 06:13PM

15336 Pluto is closest to earth in august. August would be better. I'm ok with Flaggler.

15336 Damn but I miss culture. Here I live in a big city and we have squat. And I was messing with you 66%. I do have some Beckett films I downloaded from YouTube. Both are on my phone. Maybe it's time to go back and see if I can find some new ones. So this Krapp's Last Tape appears to be the actor pretty much reading from Malloy. I can understand your frustrating and heartbreaking experience.
