15336 man that would be bad if they delete it... i sent them a message to keep the group. was the official name FictionFiles? one word? they do give us the option to keep it i think... i hope... it would be tragic to lose all of those great posts. I went there often to read them. might help if more people visited the groups page and left the comment to keep the 'fictionfiles'...

15336 Just preparing the platform for discussion. I ordered my copy and will have it in my hands around Dec 8... hands that will be on earth's soil in a place called Brunswick. Can't wait to explore Neil's head... It will be nice to have a book of poetry in my hands for a change.

15336 Mario Vargas Llosa Wins Nobel Prize in Literature

The Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa has won the 2010 Nobel
Prize in Literature.

The Swedish Academy said that it was honoring the 74-year-old
author "for his cartography of structures of power and his
trenchant images of the individual's resistance, revolt and
defeat."
15336 Just some background...

http://nobelprize.org/alfred_nobel/wi...

excerpt (my bold)

The whole of my remaining realizable estate shall be dealt with in the following way: the capital, invested in safe securities by my executors, shall constitute a fund, the interest on which shall be annually distributed in the form of prizes to those who, during the preceding year, shall have conferred the greatest benefit on mankind. The said interest shall be divided into five equal parts, which shall be apportioned as follows: one part to the person who shall have made the most important discovery or invention within the field of physics; one part to the person who shall have made the most important chemical discovery or improvement; one part to the person who shall have made the most important discovery within the domain of physiology or medicine; one part to the person who shall have produced in the field of literature the most outstanding work in an ideal direction; and one part to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses. The prizes for physics and chemistry shall be awarded by the Swedish Academy of Sciences; that for physiological or medical work by the Caroline Institute in Stockholm; that for literature by the Academy in Stockholm, and that for champions of peace by a committee of five persons to be elected by the Norwegian Storting. It is my express wish that in awarding the prizes no consideration whatever shall be given to the nationality of the candidates, but that the most worthy shall receive the prize, whether he be a Scandinavian or not.

and my favorite part...

Finally, it is my express wish that following my death my veins shall be opened, and when this has been done and competent Doctors have confirmed clear signs of death, my remains shall be cremated in a so-called crematorium.

15336 mine are here... http://www.moosesings.com/dorkapalooz... it's all public... i hide nothing... and if i do just ask... i'll show it. and thanks patrick and mo for letting me post the videos. i promise to finish my impressions write up before i die (unless, like, well i die soon).
Aug 12, 2010 10:15PM

15336 yeah... better than nothing, hey patrick? i ended up missing a bunch of meetings. damn but i hate missing my meetings. instead i'm drinking rum in the cascades watching stars at night and hearing laughter. that's pretty fucked up. i could have been in conference rooms sipping tepid tea and talking to a bunch of engineers about concrete things... but nooooo... i'm jumping off cliffs and swimming in lakes... wtf??
Aug 12, 2010 01:28AM

15336 truthfully... i broke the seal... but i was drunk when i broke it so there may not have been a seal to break. but does it really matter after all? it fucked me up. even made me think in a new language. it also helped me to develop an entirely new culture... it was a strange culture. and when i woke up it was gone. i should have taken pictures and notes. sociologists or anthropologists may have been interested in this thing.

15336 i've been reading up on this tommy bahama rum and everywhere i look it's rated pretty high, and, it won awards. i'm starting to think i don't know shit about rum... or the internet never tried drinking it... one review said it brought out and enhanced the flavor of coke... wtf?

15336 This is a place to leave a note... a thought... a picture... or just to let me know that a bottle or two of Pyrat is on the way to my address.

I'm writing stuff before I forget stuff... but honestly... I don't think I'll forget anything (even under sometimes crippling circumstances... most times?).

Anyway... this is the place. The planning was done. The event happened. And I'm just glad that I got to see all of you again and some new faces... and then there's Stan... Stan the man, the jelly bean man...

15336 patty... should i start looking :D

thinking back on this trip... for me probably the BEST vacation ever. and i've been on many vacations. it was not the place that was spectacular. it was the people that were in that place. thanks everyone for a creating a mix that was magical. i'm trying to compile my impressions and memories but there are just so many... and it was all good and many greats.
