Wow this book was intense, the whole parts of the poetry of maths, the peeks to the history of this beings, the evolution of cultures, the pettiness of the constructors and their small mindedness while being incredibly smart. I loved it :D
I liked the books as well, the father's plot "twist" was very predictable, specially in the moment he prohibited Isabelle to check the back room of the book store. I would like to say I would behave like Isabelle, but as klonk i think the reality is that i would probably be a Vianne.Isabelle didn't had to think of children, of people to care that can't be running, she could go free.
I think that the moment i enjoyed the most was when Beck, who i think was a genuine nice guy, faced Isabelle and Vianne in the cellar, i think that that was the moment Vianne realized where she was, more than when they took Rachel.
well, i think i speak for myself when i say this:This book is boring.
But at the same time I have the feeling that thats exactly what the author wanted us to feel, he even made the main protragonist the most boring person in the world, even himself mocking himself about how much of a joke he was, not liking to see people dancing because he just read about it, i mean, like, what.
the other thing that bothered me is that the author didnt use the story to explain something about the profoundly destroyed japanese societal differences, how women are irrelevant and toys for men if they dont have the courage to be more. He just went with it, as the "normal" in japanese is. Which make me think he might be one of the visitors to this places, if not in body, in soul form
I never understood if Shashimura and Komako actually had sex. Though that hardly would change anything of the story.
I would like to think that the author wanted to portray boredom, simple and straight, if thats what he wanted, he achieved it.
For as much as this book was boring, I don't hate it, that would be too strong of a feeling to have toward it. Its just "meh". I didn't care for the characters.
as i said before i think its more about the classic trait of sexual powers classic vampires use to have, but i agree that he might be just lonely
I agree with the idea that he was a legend among the vampires, as the only non-infected human left. He is the story of the food that keeps fighting back.The attraction to the vampire ladies is part of the vampire canon, they are always super attractive to the opposite sex, they are a sort of succubus demons.
The movie's zombies are absolutely lame compared, only the mild hint that some might retain their conscience is given.
The desperation Neville feels, his loneliness, how he had to give his daughter to the fire and killing his wife, twice, it all was so frightening, so sad.
I liked this story a lot, because at the end Neville was different to how he started, he was a little human at the beginning, and a creature to be feared at the end.
Would be nice if the ones who have already read the book made a comentary or two so we know who read it, trying to keep it spoiler free of course!:D
For me the book was a quick read, it was intriguing and scary for parts. I liked it a lot. It does not compare to the movie at all.
:D also as part of a silly challenge to draw something i drew one scene from the first part of the book;
