Erika certainly has issues but she’s also fighting her own department in trying to do her job. I don’t see this as being resolved.

I think the comparison to Tennyson is pretty close. They both have great instincts and can be their own worst detractor. They ignore the politics of things and don’t give consideration or weight to brass when doggedly pursuing a lead.

Here’s the passage from Chapter 7. Hope this is helpful.
“It seemed a bit cod, the way she reacted,” he said.
“Cod?” asked Erika.
“You know, like bad acting. I don’t know. People react in all sorts of weird ways. The whole family seems a bit screwed up if you ask me,” said Peterson.

Completely different from DI Kim Stone. The same narrator is used which distracted me initially but the story soon developed its own identity. I’ve about 2 hours to go and am enjoying.
What’s bugged you the most about the story? I’m still trying to figure out Erika Foster and am going back and forth right now as to her fitness.

All Through the Night by Suzanne Brockmann, Troubleshooters #12, and loved Jules & Robin’s “perfect” day.
my review

All That We Are by Mariah Stewart, Wyndham Beach #3, and am still loving this series.
my review

My Travels with Mrs. Kennedy by Clint Hill and was surprised to learn so many new things of importance about Jacqueline Kennedy.
my review

I’m listening to The Girl in the Ice by Robert Bryndza, Detective Erika Foster #1.
