147920 6. Desert Kill Switch ~ A Nostalgia City Mystery ~ Book 2 - 4/5

A good book. What I really liked was the setting - Nostalgia City, a theme-park kind of replica-town in the 1970's. The mystery was good too.

It's a quick read, Dagny. I really enjoyed it except for the emotional parts. Looking forward to your thoughts on the book.

147920 Cheryl - I just read Blame by Jeff Abbott and it turned out to be a YA Mystery-Thriller. It was good, not great, but good for a 2-day read.

147920 5. Blame - 4/5

Started out slow, but the pace picked up after a couple of chapters and then the suspense build up was really good. A very quick read.

I guess I have one on this series (most likely the 2nd or the 3rd one.) I'll definitely check it out. Thanks for the rec.

147920 4. The Fix by David Baldacci - 4/5

A BRILLIANT read!! Somehow I misplaced my copy of The Last Mile, the second book in the Amos Decker series, and as the netgalley widget has long been archieved, I went ahead with the 3rd part. And... it was GREAT! I loved it. Though I did guess the main culprit in the initial few chapters, but this book had so many questions to focus that it didn't matter. I really like how Amos Decker uses his total recall to solve cases and I do like his character (as weird as he might be.) The last couple of chapters did feel a bit of a slog... but overall I liked the book a lot!

147920 3. Manga Classics: The Stories of Edgar Allan Poe - 3/5

Not sure if I liked the writing much, but all the stories were creepy as hell!

147920 3. The Ripper's Wife - 2/5

The pace was too slow to be a real thriller and more than 30% of the exposition felt redundant. Though some bits were good. I'm very dissapointed because I loved Brandy Purdy's Lizzie Borden book. I'm not sure if I'll be trying any other book by her in the near future :/

Same here Cheryl, even I've started dreaking series overall in any genre (especially after Divergent series turned out to be such a dud.) I read this only and only because I had its third part and wanted to read that. But it turned out to be pretty good! Do check it out. In fact, David Baldacci has quite a few stand alones too, so in case if you want to test his writing, maybe start with a SA and then go for the series. Though I can vouch for this series, it has a lot of elements and was a real brain-teaser.

147920 2. Manga Classics: The Stories of Edgar Allan Poe - 3/5

It was good; loved the chills, thrills and the creeps, but only that, not so much the writing. Even the illustrations were not that great. Though if anyone likes Poe's works, then they should definitely read this.
