Terra saw Tuesday get slightly uncomfortable, but she acted like she didn't notice it. Honestly she was slightly nervous for the games too but she willed herself to be brave. Thinking about Tuesday's question, Terra replied, "I'm going to go straight for the weapons and whatever else I can get my hands on then head away from the cornucopia. I'm really hoping that the arena is a forest or somewhere that isn't extremely open so I have somewhere to hide if I ever need to. And I hope I can make some allies so I'm not by myself in the Games, but I won't have trouble working by myself if I have to." Terra didn't directly mention to Tuesday that she was hoping to be allies with her, but she was hoping that she would get the hint. "Do you have a strategy for the games?"

Terra smiled at Tuesday. She was good at this stuff and was glad Tuesday was helping her. As Tuesday went through the second stage of the simulation, Terra made sure to pay close attention to which ones Tuesday was choosing as inedible. It was hard to memorize all of them, but she had a pretty good idea of which ones were bad because of the details Tuesday told her about them. When it was her turn, she hesitantly walked up to the machine and pressed start. Hopefully she wouldn't fail miserably. When the simulation started up, she was slightly overwhelmed with all the plants that showed up. The simulation told her to pick out the edible plants. She was being timed though, so she decided to just try her best. She tapped on any plant that didn't have the indicators of being inedible that Tuesday talked about. Several plants lit up red, meaning that she got them wrong, but by the end of the simulation she realized that she didn't do nearly as bad as she thought she would. She didn't do as good as Tuesday, but she still got a decent amount of plants right. She smiled to herself.

Terra stood there watching Tuesday with her mouth open. Tuesday had done really good at classifying plants, way better than Terra would be able to do. The plant simulation seemed really overwhelming: there were tons of plants that Terra had never seen before. She recognized a few at the most, and now she was kind of scared to try it herself. She hesitated for a second, then decided that she would let Tuesday have another try at it. Maybe if she watched the screen closely while Tuesday classified the edible plants, she would be able to memorize some of them and not embarrass herself when it was her turn.

"Wow, you're really good. Can you please show me how to do it again?"

"Yeah, we can move on to plants. You can go first if you want." Terra said with a small smile. She was kind of glad that Tuesday didn't reject her offer.

"Sadly I don't have that much experience with plants. I was hoping that I would learn more about them during training so I don't embarrass myself in the arena and accidentally eat something poisonous."

This gave Terra an idea. Maybe if she helped Tuesday with her knife throwing Tuesday would help her learn about plant classification. It didn't hurt to ask at least, it would benefit both of them.

"Maybe if you want to I can help you more with knife throwing and you can teach me about plants-that is, if you want to. You don't have to," Terra said, turning a little red.

I think we should roleplay some and see if it would work. I thought Ian seemed really interesting and likeable. My character, Terra, is a skilled District Five female that is going to team with the career pack but also might consider pairing with other tributes as long as they are good.

"It's okay to boast sometimes," Terra replied, "especially if you want to impress people. From what my dad told me from when he was in the games, the sponsors like people that are confident because confidence makes you better at what you do, which will give you a greater chance of survival. The sponsors want to help people that have a better chance of surviving. It's also really good that you can hunt and tell edible plants from the bad ones, because not everyone knows how to do that. From what I've heard, a lot of people don't even think about that kind of thing, they think the Hunger Games is going to be all about killing each other."

Terra realized that she was rambling on so she tried to stop herself from talking too much. She didn't want to scare Tuesday off or seem like a know it all, especially if she was going to try to ally with her.

Terra was impressed that Tuesday was able to hit so close to the target so quickly after listening to her advice. Huh, maybe she's not so bad after all. She decided that she would stick around and help Tuesday practice for a while longer. Maybe she would have what it took to be Terra's ally. And she seemed like someone she would get along with, even if she wasn't a career. Terra took three more knives from the table and threw them all at the dummy one at a time. One of them hit the chest, and two of them hit where the eyes would be if it was an actual person. She looked over to Tuesday to see her reaction. Tuesday still looked hesitant so Terra smiled nicely.

"So Tuesday, what are some strengths you have that would be helpful in the arena?"

Personality: Joslin is a very shy 12 year old boy. He has a few friends back home, but he mostly keeps to himself. He is really quiet, but also really smart. When he got reaped for the games, he knew his life was over and that he didn't have a chance of winning. He doesn't have any physical strengths, all of his strengths are mental strengths.

History: Joslin grew up to a poor family in the seam. He sometimes has had to go without food which has made him weak, but his family does the best they can. He grew up with the bare minimum, but has always taken great pride in knowledge. Some of the bigger kids liked to make fun of him at school, but he knew how to hide from them and be a wallflower.

Family: His father is a miner and his mom sells stuff in the hob during the day to try to feed their family. Joslin has two younger twin sisters, both of whom are really loud. This annoys Joslin at times, but he still loves them.

Choice of Weapon: Joslin doesn't have any experience with weapons, so he doesn't know what he would be good at.

Strengths: Intellectual stuff, noticing things others wouldn't notice.

Weaknesses: Not a fast runner, and no knowledge of weapons or how to use them.

Bloodbath Strategy: Run away from the cornucopia as soon as the bell chimes and hope nobody kills him. If he makes it out of the bloodbath he plans on hiding the whole time. He has went without food before so not eating in the arena wouldn't be a problem for him.

139812 As Terra exited the simulation, she noticed that the two girls she was trying to impress hardly gave her any notice. She shrugged it off, and decided to head to another station. As she was crossing the room, she noticed a shy-looking girl practicing her knife-throwing skills. She hit the target a little off-center the first couple times, then missed the target the third time and looked around nervously to see if anyone noticed. This made Terra kind of feel bad-even though she wasn't sure she wanted to ally with someone that wasn't good at weapons and killing, she still thought the girl seemed sweet. And hey, maybe she would turn out to be better with more practice. She decided that she would offer to help the girl with her knife throwing skills, and if she didn't improve, oh well. At least she tried to help. Terra strode over to where the girl was standing, picked up a knife, and threw it at the target. The knife hit the dummy in the chest.

"You see, it's easier to hit your target if you focus on nothing but the target. Distractions are bad," She said to the girl. When she realized she hadn't introduced herself, she added, "Terra Byrne, District Five. Nice to meet you."

139812 My district 5 female was trained by her father (he was a victor) since she was little, so she's very skilled with combat. She's good with a whip, throwing knives, and hand to hand combat. She's also not afraid to kill anyone that gets in her way so I'd say she's pretty tough.

As Terra's stylist looked her over to make sure her costume looked perfect, she couldn't help but be irritated. She thought that she was going to look amazing in her costume because it looked amazing hanging up, but she just felt uncomfortable. The "solar panels" were stiff and poked into her if she bent over more than a couple inches, and she felt like people could see her underwear through the dress. Oh well, she thought. She still had to try to impress the Capitol citizens in order to get sponsors, so she put on her biggest smile and stepped onto the chariot. She greeted her district partner, but he didn't really say anything back to her. He was wearing an outfit very similar to hers, but instead of a dress he was wearing a suit covered in silver solar panels. As the chariot started moving forward, she stood up even straighter, making sure to look happy and confident. The people seemed to buy it, because when they saw her, they pointed and cheered for her. She just kept smiling and waving, kind of liking the attention even though the crowds were making her slightly nauseous. When all the chariots stopped and President Snow stepped up to the podium, she looked up at him with a proud look on her face while he gave his speech.
As she headed back to her room after the parade was over, she couldn't help but feel accomplished. She thought that the crowds would be a problem for her, but she was able to forget about her anxiety and be confident. She was sure she would at least get a handful of sponsors, because the people seemed to love her.

From District 5, please welcome miss Terra Byrne!

As Terra stepped out onto the stage, she couldn't help but think about how amazing she looked. Sure, the dress was hard to walk in and it was more on the fancy side, but she still felt like a million dollars. When Caesar and the Capitol citizens in the audience caught sight of her, they all gasped and cheered.

"My my miss Byrne, you look outstanding!" Caesar said with a grin and a wink.

"Thank you very much," she responded with a smile.

"So I hear that you're originally from District 4. What was it like moving to a new district?"

"Well, I was a baby when my dad and I moved, so I don't even remember 4. But from what he tells me, the beaches were very nice. I wish I could have seen it"

Caesar laughed a big laugh and moved on to the next question.

"Your father was a very popular victor of the Games during his time, how has that influenced you?"

"Well, since my dad was a victor during his Games, it has always been assumed that I would volunteer when I was old enough. He has taught me how to use weapons and he has been preparing me for the arena as best as he could since I was little. A lot of his talent has rubbed off on me and I think that will really help me in the arena."

Caesar gave a big smile and the audience cheered for her. They really seemed to like her and that made her happy.

"One more question for you before you go Terra, what is your strategy for the arena? Do you plan on making any alliances?"

This is the question she had been hoping for.

"When I get into the arena and the bloodbath starts, I am going to grab whatever weapons I can. If anybody gets in my way I will not hesitate to kill them. It would be nice to ally with the careers, but I won't have a problem with fighting on my own or with other skilled people if I can't join them."

She looks straight into the audience and gives her most dazzling smile. As she steps off the stage, she turns around and blows the audience a kiss. They love it, and she can tell they love her.

She doesn't know why she ever thought the large crowds would bother her. All the attention the Capitol citizens gave her really helped boost her confidence and now she can't wait to be in that arena.

139812 Letting out a deep breath of nervousness, Terra stepped out of the elevator and into the Training Center. She shouldn't have anything to be worried about (she had been training for this for most of her life), but she still felt a slight pang of nervousness. It might have had something to do with the fact that she was used to being the outcast most of her life and now had to find allies. She knew where she fit in, which was with the careers. She was physically fit and good in combat, but she was a little worried that the careers would reject her or make fun of her for being small. She had to show everyone that she did have what it takes to win the Hunger Games and that her small stature could actually be a good thing. She took another deep breath and put on her best tough face. She scanned the room to see what station she would go to first. After a few seconds of looking, she found exactly what she was hoping for. A table with various hand weapons, including a whip, was situated a few feet away from where two girls she thought were the careers were at. She strode over to the table, picked up a whip, and went into the simulation room. She decided that she was going to make a big first impression. As the simulation started, she stood alert and ready, with the whip securely in her hand. The first person charged at her, and she quickly took one of their arms off, causing them to shatter into pixels. Three more people started towards her, and she did the same to them before they could touch her. By the end of the simulation she had dismembered at least 15 people with the whip, and was only slightly winded. She looked up to see the two girls looking at her with curiosity, and she smiled at them.

139812 Hello, I'm interested in making an alliance with the careers or anyone that is good with weapons/other useful things for the arena. If you're interested in allying with me just let me know.

Apr 11, 2015 04:50PM

139812 I was going to do District 4 female, but that one was already taken. My character will work for 5 though, so that will be fine.

Name: Terra Byrne
District:5
Age: 16
Gender:Female

Appearance:

zoey deutch photo: Zoey Deutch 3045D5F2-3494-4EDC-8D28-68E010E3A5AD_zpselbpfjdz.jpg

Height: 5'4
Weight: 120 lbs
Hair: Long brown wavy hair, often worn in a bun or braid
Eyes: Brown

Family: Terra was originally born in District 4 to a Hunger Games victor father and fisherman mother, but her mother died in a fishing accident when Terra was a baby. Her dad became a peacekeeper and got relocated to District 5, and since she had no other family to live with, she got to move to 5 with her dad. Her dad is very strict with her as she grows up. Since he was a victor of the games, he expects her to follow in his footsteps and volunteer for the games. He makes her train and exercise daily, but even though he is hard on her he still loves and cares about her. She does not have any siblings.

History: Because of not having much family and always training for the games, Terra does not have many friends. Growing up, people at her school were always polite to her but did not try to get close to her because they found her intimidating and kind of stuck up. She appears like this on the outside, but on the inside she mostly just wants to be liked by people and she is mildly depressed.

Choice of Weapon:
-Whip
-Knives
-Any blunt objects she can get her hands on if she doesn't have any other weapons

Strengths:
-She is really good with a whip, and can take people's limbs off with it in seconds
-Hand to hand combat
-Being intimidating despite her small stature

Weaknesses:
-Large crowds (could be a problem for her during her interview and the tribute parade)
-Dealing with pain
-Scared of heights

Bloodbath Strategy: Grab the first weapons that she can find, killing anyone that gets in her way, and team with the career pack.

Token: Gold spiral ring with a vine pattern

~Other Info~
Sexual orientation: gay
Relationship status: single
Personality: Even though she is secretly slightly depressed and wants to be liked by people, she is also high maintenance and kind of bitchy to people if they give her the wrong impression. This is even more true when she enters into the games.
