139735 We should probably have a secret group... Also, should we spin for team name since we haven't chosen yet?

139735 Yeah, this MPG is hard. Travel I feel like is all Nonfiction, which not sure if that fits prompts; I am a rare Nonfiction reader, so not looking that way. Maybe a fiction that takes place on a road trip or plane or boat or something? We can read YA and Middle Grade if we halve the page count I think...? I'm struggling with C books too; I have a couple from the library but idk if they work for anything since these prompts I sometimes can't tell if a book will work from the synopsis. My strategy is to read what I want to, and then hope it fits. When I'm down to a few prompts, I'll see if I can find a book specifically, but sometimes it's just nothing on my radar.

139735 Lol, I cannot even tell you how much I want to nap at work...

139735 Lolol! I don't think GR will allow usernames to be the same, but yes, I am also on HOB! ;) You sound like me and are reading too late into the night instead of sleeping lol. :D

139735 I have one prompt left, and it's not looking good for it lol. I haven't stumbled over a social movement book, and I'm not likely to with what I have upcoming. :P

139735 Ooh, I do know some books off the bat that would work for these tasks! But the genre is gonna be hard for me too... Hopefully some will have picked up enough tags for that, but that's always a shot in the dark.
Thanks Julia!! I swear I miss the new prompts every month lol.

139735 Yay, no rushing for you!! I figured Ashley would be chill about that since that would be kinda crazy to throw that at you last minute. And I'm not sure anyone has loved it, so we would totally be recommending something we're maybe averaging three stars with. A five star, I'd be, yeah, read it anyway, but it's very meh, unfortunately. Hopefully our August prompts drop soon (or did they drop and I missed it?); I'm hoping some of my title initial books work in August because the mood reading never got there in July. Although my reading plans got shot to heck because my library system is undergoing imminent changes with like two weeks notice, so everything is kafuffle. :P

139735 I feel like that was the title because we would immediately associate the story with San Francisco. Maybe also juxtaposing the beauty and achievement that is the bridge with the prejudicial undercurrent in the city at the time. The dark side of the bridge building was briefly present, but yeah, there's not much about the bridge itself in the book, just in passing. If it wasn't in the book, we probably wouldn't miss it lol.

139735 Godspeed, Vicki! I knew there would be at least one procrastinator lol! It just makes it more fun to feel the pressure, right? ;) I made myself pick up this book early so I wouldn't save it for the end, since I have book club next week and I haven't started that yet, and I can't do two pressure reads at once lol.

139735 I'm not sure how the scoring is for group book. I'm not even sure if all of us got it finished, since it's two teams reading the same book. It is The Golden Gate by Amy Chua, if you're interested, but we've all been giving it mixed reviews lol. Ashley might comp that since three days left in the month, and you weren't here to vote. :)

139735 Welcome Julia!! Check with Ashley whether you're on for July or starting in August, since there are only a few days left. You would have had no planning time, and it would have been a minor miracle to have gotten the group book. :)

139735 The biggest pluses to me for the historical fiction aspects was hearing that some Japanese escaped internment, and I didn't know that there were deportations to Mexico during the Depression, so there were some good learning moments. I'm still unsure whether the history added anything to the story though, because it did feel like a lot of distractions cum red herrings.
