Hey everyone,
how is everyone going along? It seems like some are already on the sequel, so I think we should set a date to all discuss it together! Maybe a google chat or something. I am mostly free weekends so we could set up one Sat or Sun! Again, let me know how everyone's doing!

How is everyone doing, curious to see how the new readers are going and your thoughts on the book so far? I must admit I started reading other books, but still working on this along as well.

Hashmi I believe it was when Bran fell and was in a coma, and Tyrion said the nice thing to do was to go to Catelyn and Sansa and pay respects or something along those lines.

Hashmi, didn't Tyrion slap him pretty good at the beginning? I wish someone would slap him again though!

thanks for creating this thread Paul. I especially looooveee Bran's chapters, there's something so interesting about his perspective and some of the magical aspects.

Brittania, the change of Khal Drogo was definitely annoying! I can see why the show changed it, so his development will be even more obvious, and it showed Dany being so upset about the arrangement.

And Kevin I do think Jon's mother is someone of power of some sort. Maybe we haven't been introduced to her yet, but it's interesting.

Paul, I like that theory about Jon's mother.

Hi to the new readers here!! We are currently working on gOt independently since some are reading faster than others. There is a general forum here if you'd like to add in thoughts as you go along! We'll have a bigger discussion when we're all finished!

How is everyone doing? What chapter aree you all on?

I agree with all your comments regarding the fantasy/magic elements. It's not over the top, and it's slowly being introduced to us through dire wolves, prologue, etc.
I also think that what sets this storytelling apart is the unique voices of each of these characters. G.R.R.Martin is so good at really creating each of them individually.

OOPS. CHAPTERS 11-20! I'm so sorry!
I also made an effort into labeling my own books through little post-its as labels to remind me what chapter I'm on! haha. It is a lot easier now since this book is so hefty.

take your time guys and don't worry Paul! I am just posting this for those who want to have space to talk:) I am not done with these chapters yet!

Currently still reading Sansa I's chapter, but:
Tyrion II - I really like Jon and Tyrion's odd little relationship. Sad we really didn't get to see this on the show but that's not really important I guess.
Catelyn II - LOVED this chapter. We really see how George R.R. Martin writes a great action packed scene without being over the top. Also this is the moment we get to see Robb really start growing up.

So having finished chapters 1-10, who's your favorite perspective so far??
I have to say that I am really liking the first time we see Tyrion. His conversation with Jon was great. I also understand Catelyn's hate toward Jon, even though Jon is one of my fav narrators! My favorite though has hands down got to be Daenerys! His brother, Viserys, UGH.

In comparison to the show, so spot on! I am loving re-reading this after seeing the show. The first time I read it, there wasn't a show yet, so it's kind of crazy now. I totally see Ned and Catelyn as the actors! So good. I also think the actor that played Viserys was good.

Catelyn is definitely just cold towards Jon, and I love Jon, but a part of me understands her in a way. Your husband promises to come back to your family BUT SURPRISE! He sleeps with someone else and gets her pregnant..

I absolutely love Tyrion and Jon conversation btw!

I'll write a bit longer but I am at work :P but I have always adored Arya and Jon!!!
