We are a close bunch, aren't we?

Merry Christmas to you all! (I may be off the boards until Tuesday; celebrating and chilling out!)

I see it!

Hugh appears bluff, but nearly always give in to Cecily. Not sure if that is good or bad...
I'm at 56% through the book. Kindle helps keep me apprised of my progress!

Hah!

I know I've read a number of the Holiday Pennyfoot stories (there are a number of non-holiday ones as well, though I haven't read any of them.) I've also read them out of order, so it is tough for me to gauge where we are in the series, with this book.
Cecily and Baxter are married, but just married. They were away from the hotel apparently but are back to run it temporarily, given that the previous manager just died, accidentally or otherwise. Cecily is intent on investigation and Baxter is intent on trying to dissuade all of that. Though he appears strong, Cecily seems to be defeating him every time he tries!

I'm fine with all of this. (I was out of internet-land much of yesterday: Dinner for 16 is a lot of work, and the first of many loads in the dishwasher is in place right now!)

I am well into the book, and going past Christmas Day will be fine with me! Thanks for taking the helm, Nicole!

No strife here is my motto as well.
I'll be in for Pennyfoot, is there are others.

Tina, I think the point was that, even if Stephen did that, he could only be gone as long as one record, which in those days, was not long enough to have a fight with and murder an old man!

I'm reading Pennyfoot already. If no one else plans to, I am perfectly find not having a discussion. Don't read something you don't want to or have time to!

He was testing Tressilian's eyesight. Hence his (Tressilian's) issues with mixing up Harry, Stephen and Sugden.

And a demi-kilo of most excellent, hand-made chocolates!

Saw it as well.

I was thinking of Sugden's attitude throughout the book, and whether it was all that real.

He's lucky he had such a good alibi. Christie rarely gives someone such an iron-clad one, and have it hold up.

My house is basically all done. Right now, I'm preparing for 16 people for Christmas dinner this coming Sunday. Sort of a "Friends-mas" (instead of Friendsgiving)!

I was the other vote for Pennyfoot, but if no one else is along, I will pass on the discussion.

Me, too, Nicole. I often anticipate some of the actual words and dialogue!

Fraser has narrated a great many Christie novels. As far as Joan's narrations, I have the few that she has done and I do like them. Her voice is distinctive and, though she doesn't change voices all that much for the various characters, I still follow along nicely (though I know the books practically by heart at this point!)
It did seem odd that she was picked to read a book with a male first-person narrator!
