I am not sure what I like most about it. I love the name, Pakksenarion, and I suppose I just like following the character to see what happens. I do not think the book is really crushing it on all the elements of story, but its enjoyable enough.
For me, it is homework. Of all the books I am aware of, Pakksenarion is the most like my own story, and so I am reading to see what it has. I think, I can safely say, no one will confuse us. For me, this is a long book, so it will take me a while to finish, and its book 2 of 3.
If you were interested in my story it is The Eye of Ebon. Languishing with no love....But I dont wish to spam ;)

I may have to go with GRRM. Game of thrones is so masterfully done that I was amazed at his ability in writing it. In just the opening he captured the taste of Iron as one held a knife in his mouth to climb, and the sweat stains on the hafts of swords....details so skillfully added, and just more than I would have thought... plus the story and characters are very good as well. He is a master.
But....that does not really make him a fav.
I am not really sure who my favorite recognizable author is. Possibly Robert E Howard. His prose is sometimes close to purple, but still...he immerses. And his writing captures something of the spirit of man against all else.

But...if I was to, its probably to learn something, and see how something was done that is similar to something I want to do in my own writing.
I have had it explained to me that some people re-read books in the same way I might watch a movie for a second time, as kind of a comfort...but that has never been me.
Assuming of course that we dont include things like the Bible, and children's books like Horton Hears A Who. I read Horton like 500 times when my kids were young.
A book I might like to read again might be the ones that inspired me...Dune, Elric, Conan....but I probably wont.

I do find that the speed takes some of the voice acting out of the narrator, but I dont mind.
I also read many print books, usually for friends who are wanting me to beta read and make corrections. I spill a lot of red ink on the page, and most things I read this way are not very polished. Most, will not likely be published or become works you know.
Occasionally, a story engrosses me, and for those I make time and look forward to it. This is rare.... I consider myself an author and not a reader. But I am sometimes an editor which requires reading it.
I find it hard to turn off my inner editor, even while reading published works, and I am always looking at the nuts and bolts of a story as well as its entertainment aspect.
Most stories I read are fantasy stories. Sometimes I read stories that are just the trendy one of the day. I find the stories I actually like the most are Classics. Which is surprising to me, as I would never have wanted to read one when I was younger.
Last book I read was Forged in Gold by a new author, Katelyn Schoumaker and the last classic was Pride and Prejudice.

I dont know what my favorite fantasy story is, but it might be Watership Down.
I am 56, and have had many hobbies over the years. Currently, I am putting a ton of energy into the series that I've been writing for many years, the White Sword Saga, and occassionally playing guitar.
I am not a fast reader, and dont tend to read for the same reasons others do (for me, it is kind of like homework), but I do read a lot, and probably some of those things overlap some of what you have read.
Happy to meet everyone, and hope we get to know each other better.
