I love that too Erica! I'm big on gold stars and crossing things off, so the progress bar drives me big time.
Welcome everyone who is new! I'm trying to keep up, but I love that there are so many of you that it's hard. Don't forget to check out the tracking progress board and the what I read board, where you can talk about the books you've read this year in further detail. Good luck on all your challenges, everyone!!
This book I just finished was SO frustrating!
-- it was a huge infomercial for a certain brand of psychology and really presented nothing else. I was so disappointed because it started so well. Now I really need to read a great book to make up for it.
The ending is super messed up, but I almost felt like it had to be that way. I liked it. But I hear she's re-writing the ending for the movie, so I'm sure vengeance will be had.
Yes, that's my thought. I'll record them as read but not post a review until maybe after RITA finalists are announced.
Millie wrote: "I just finished Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn (stayed up WAY too late to finish it but I could not stop reading) and I feel like my mind just got hit by a runaway bus. Wow!"RIGHT???
Yeah probably since I hadn't taken RITA into account. But I'll reevaluate midyear and adjust if I need to. :)
Eh, it's not really an honor. I entered so I have to judge. LOL But I'm excited to see which category they give me.
It's fun to see what everyone's reading. I just got the notification that I'm going to be getting books to judge for the RITAs (the big award for published books that RWA puts on and you have to judge to enter) so my book count may increase significantly in the next few weeks.
I just started Why Smart People Hurt, a nonfiction book. The forward was really interesting and I'm really looking forward to reading it.
People are just adding books they're reading I think to the "shelf" for the challenge. Everyone is welcome to do so, but they aren't any official challenges to read a specific book at the same time.
I think that's a great idea Coull! :) I'm actually going to put up a re-evaluation post in June to remind everyone to check their goals.
A few people said or noticed that everything they read in 2013 wasn't counted by Goodreads. I think the reason is that if you don't put a date on when the book was finished, it won't count it. So to make sure all your 2014 books are counted on a main Goodreads challenge, just be sure to date when you finish!
I loved, loved, LOVED Sister by Rosamund Lupton! Seriously, it was so suspenseful and interesting and well-written and I cried a couple of times. Completely amazing. Highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend.
