Bonnie those are great. A couple I was aware of but not all of them. Love when i have a change to read the book before the adaption. If you, or anyone, hears more about the adaptation date please let me know. There are some good ones in this group.

I watched A man Called Ove - with subtitles and really enjoyed that one. But I too would like to see this one. I am a Tom Hanks fan anyway.

Gee I have finished so many book since I last posted...sigh! But currently I am reading

Celeste Ng and EXTREMELY disappointed in her for leaving out quotation marks - the laziest thing an author can do, IMO! I got rid of the book - immediately - without reading it. So as not to add to her profits, I got the audio from the library. Biggest pet peeve when it comes to an author and I will automatically decrease the review by at least one full star.

I always read the book before the visual if I can. Be sure to let me know if you hear any more about the series.

I understand that there will be spoilers in the series that affect the Grant County book series. There is a cross over between these two. I am taping the Will Trent series since I am reading the Grant County book series.

A Man Called Ove A Novel By Fredrik Backman
Now a major motion picture A Man Called Otto starring Tom Hanks!#1 New York Times bestseller—more than 3 million copies sold!
Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him “the bitter neighbor from hell.” But must Ove be bitter just because he doesn’t walk around with a smile plastered to his face all the time?
Behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul. All of which will change one cranky old man and a local residents’ association to their very foundations.
Fredrik Backman’s beloved first novel about the angry old man next door is a thoughtful exploration of the profound impact one life has on countless others. “If there was an award for ‘Most Charming Book of the Year,’ this first novel by a Swedish blogger-turned-overnight-sensation would win hands down”

Tips for Reading the Chief Inspector Gamache books by Louise Penny by Corinne H. Smith on YouTube 31 minutes

There are so many horrid things in our history. I don't think it is so much people try to ignore or coverup what has happened, it is just the overwhelming amount of things from the past. Not only is slavery abhorrent, but the massacre of Native Americans, the internment of Americans of Japanese decent, the Holocaust and murder of those of the Jewish faith. Down thru history there have been many instances of one people against another.

Someone said that the show did not give them the same vibe on the town that the books did. It looks like Penny agrees.

Oh Bonnie sorry about that. I have only heard good things about this one. It has been too long ago that I read the book so doubt I would notice any big changes to the series. I have been too busy to watch it yet, but it is on my list to watch really soon.

I had a co-member of another group post this little interview of Louise Penny on her thought of the Three Pines series and jsut had to repost it here for everyone. There are no spoilers in it.
Be sure to open and read the whole thing. If you try to go back they expect you to subscribe to globeandmail, however it is free to do so, but you lose the article. You can read it in just a very few minutes.

DeAnn I would think with like 18 or 19 books published they would have the material to do at least 4 or 5 seasons. Maybe there is conflict on money with actors now that they realize how popular the series is. That happens a lot and delays the continuing episodes.

I went looking last night for a continuing episode and there was nothing there. So I think everyone may be right and this is it for season one - 8 episodes. If that is the case I wish they doled them out one at a time - one per week instead of grouping the last four like they did. I greedily watched what I could as quickly as I could, now I want more.

I have the playaway and hope to start listening to it soon - then I will also watch the movie.

to all you already celebrating and to those soon to celebrate. May you have a great a year in 2023!

Once you watch them Bonnie let me know so we can chat.

Jan 8th can't some soon enough...
