I really need to restart the Mercy Thompson series. How are the audiobooks?"

Rolling along! I prefer the audiobooks on the Mercy Thompson series but both are good. The narrator is Loreli King so I guess a lot depends on how you feel about her narrating skills. I think she is perfect for Mercy but somehow I didn't like her for Stephanie Plum.

1176148 Great list Lillie. I don't think I have read any of them. I can feel my TBR expanding as we speak. I look forward to your reviews.
1176148 Looks like you're doing a lot of heavy reading this month Lea. Kudos. I hope you enjoy Chain gang more than I did. Its brutal and I don't think it made the statement that it was meant to. Maybe though I just didn't get it.

1176148 Enjoying the ride with Silence Fallen (Mercy Thompson, #10) by Patricia Briggs Silence Fallen #10 in the Mercy Thompson series.

Mercy is kidnapped by vampires and taken to Europe. Adam and a choice selection of Mercy's friend follow in pursuit. Unfortunately by the time they arrive, Mercy has already escaped and is stirring up trouble in the old country.

If this series doesn't satisfy your need for paranormal creatures, you need to be worried. Kudos for adding yet another creature to the list with an appearance by a Golem in this one. This wasn't the strongest of the series but it was still a lot of fun. Fast paced action and plenty of laughs.

3 Mercy vs. the monsters stars.

A fun series narrated by Barbara Rosenblat..."

Glad to see you are enjoying Lady Darby. I sort of stalled out on that series but I really need to get back to it. It was a fun one. Thanks to you I'm checking out narrator Barbara Rosenblat. You make me think I might be missing something.
1176148 “Reading shapes a person. The landscape of books is more real, in some ways, than the one outside the window. It isn't experienced at a remove; it is internal, vital.”
― Kate Morton, Homecoming

#15 Homecoming by Kate Morton Homecoming Like many of Kate Morton's books this was one hard to put down. There were two timelines (trademark Kate Morton). In one a modern day reporter returns home to Australia to help her aging grandmother and discovers a whole host of family secrets. In the other historical timeline there is an unsolved murder/suicide case that is shared with the reader mostly in the format of a true crime novel. Both timelines held my interest though the true crime format was the most appealing. I did think that there were a few too many convenient twists at the end but on the whole an enjoyable mystery. 4 Secrets in the attic stars. ebook. Mystery.

#16 The Exception to the Rule (The Improbable Meet-Cute, #1) by Christina Lauren The Exception to the Rule In this epistolary novella (I think you still use the word epistolary even if it is text messages) a misdelivered text message begins a Valentine's Day tradition that eventually brings two people together. Light and fun. 4 mystery date stars. ebook. Romance.

#17 The House of Unexpected Sisters (No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency, #18) by Alexander McCall Smith The House of Unexpected Sisters Mma Ramotswe discovers a sister she didn't know. I always love the peaceful, contented feel of this series. 3 Africa Africa Africa stars. Audiobook. Mystery.

#18 The Red Garden by Alice Hoffman The Red Garden A series of short stories all centered around the town of Blackwell and the descendants of its founders. I always enjoy Alice Hoffman and these stories had tie ins to some of her other stories. 3 Only red things grow in the garden stars. Audiobook. Historical Fiction.

#19 As The Crow Flies (Walt Longmire, #8) by Craig Johnson As The Crow Flies Another in the Longmire series. The sheriff witnesses a terrible death and then helps the novice reservation cheif of police find a killer all while planning his daughter's wedding. 4 loving this series stars. Audiobook.

19 books/2312 pages

Current:
Silence Fallen Audiobook. Continuing the Mercy Thopson series.
The Scarlet Letter ebook. More interesting than I remember but the language.
Same Time Next Year ebook. Alternating with chapters of the above to keep things interesting.

That sums up The Green Mile perfectly Lea. Great King.
1176148 I'm going to keep rolling through them I think. They are refreshing breaks between more serious books. Hope you get a chance to get back into them Bill. Happy reading!
1176148 Most of my books lately seem to be in the U.S. or in countries I've already read from. I guess it's time I do a little more of that armchair traveling.
1176148 Getting back into the Mercy Thompson series now with Silence Fallen
1176148 Checking another on off the list As The Crow Flies (Walt Longmire, #8) by Craig Johnson As The Crow Flies by Craig Johnson.

In this eighth book in the series Sheriff Longmire witnesses a terrible death and helps the inexperienced reservation Chief of Police track down a killer, all while planning his daughters wedding.

I just love this audiobook series. The writing is amazing and the audio productions enhance the story. The cast of characters is great but the star of course is Sheriff Longmire with his unique outlook on life. These are always enjoyable.

4 spirit guide stars.

Maisie Dobbs is a commitment but I have enjoyed the series so far. If your Dad is offering you all the books I don't know how you are resisting. Nothing better than having them available whenever you are in the mood.

I hate it when a writer comes up with a decent mystery plot but can't write the rest of it. And the racial stuff, not necessary.
1176148 Thanks Lillie!
1176148 Thanks Martha! It does feel like you are accomplishing something when you check these series reads off your list. Hope you enjoy the next Longmire. You are right each one seems a little better than the last.
