This one has been on my to-read list for a few years. My first historical fiction read around Queen Victoria's family. This book focuses on her eldest daughter, Princess Vicky, the Princess Royal. It was an interesting book that I enjoyed reading. I even learnt some things I wasn't aware of (or had forgotten) - after checking that they were factual.
My one complaint about this book is that it ends in 1871, 30 years before Vicky's death. I would have been interested to read about the last 30 years of her life as well as the first 30. There doesn't seem to have been any mention of a sequel and the epilogue leads me to think there were no plans for a sequel. The book was already around 500 pages so the last 30 years would have added significantly, but I still think it would have been interesting.

I also avoided the new book pages for ages compared to a lot of people but they eventually found me too :(

It's been a while since I've read this series but nice to delve back into it. A nice easy read and I'm happy to continue reading this series.

I read the Shadow & Bone trilogy last year and enjoyed it, so was keen to read this duology. Perhaps not quite what I was expecting but I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading Crooked Kingdom. 5 stars from me.

3 stars from me. I felt a little disappointed with this book. It didn't grab my attention as much as I expected. Found it a bit hard to get into. Seems like there's meant to be a second book but I don't think I'll read it.
