@Lila, I've heard that a lot. I got 2 messages on Tumblr yesterday from people saying they thought they'd never get new downside info, but that this gave them hope.

Well from what I've personally experienced, downside is one of the series that a lot of people have heard of but not many of them have actually read it. Like it's often in "UF series you need to read" lists.

What I've heard most often is certain subject matter (i.e. Chess's drug addiction) is off-putting. So that automatically makes people wary of reading this series. Which is totally understandable, it's a difficult issue and it's prevalent throughout the series.

IMO: I've always seen Chess's drug addiction as the 3rd main character. It influences everything in & outside of Chess's world.

Por exemplo:

Last year I got a message on Tumblr from someone saying that they had decided to check out downside because of a quote I had reblogged. But that I should have given them proper trigger warnings because this series is highly problematic. And if I had done that, they would've never checked it out in the first place. So yeah......

But, I sincerely hope Stacia does decide to self pub the sequels. I hope she sees this thread and it shows her that many of us still love her & her characters and that we desperately want more.

Yeah, that feeling of being alone is one of the main reasons why I wanted to create this thread and the other downside thread. There aren't that many downside fans, but we're mighty. We can do this!

The reasons why they've given up on the series vary from: they have a personal rule that if more than 2 yrs have passed between each book they lose interest & move on. To someone felt slighted because Stacia never responded to her message on Facebook.

So....

You'd be surprised Rachel, I've gotten at least 5 messages from people who told me that they'd given up on this series. But if we kept talking about it, it might make them change their minds. So who fucking knows.

But fuck yeah we can more people into this series. I plan to fangirl like I've never fangirled before!

I might later, I'm happily lost in comic book land right now.

Hahah no she'd read the entire series. She was even more confident with her decision after Chasing magic.

Right, I asked her that, all she said was that she just preferred Lex. My response was like "really" (insert extremely confused face here) Because come the fuck on, if you're going to say something like that, you should be prepared to defend your opinion.
