1133408 p.s. having to do the assignments would perhaps help you learn better, but... if you want a complete experience, I would suggest paying for a course that is currently active, so you can interact with students and staff supporting the course. my opinion...:)

1133408 John:

I am slowly reading Ada Limon's _ The Hurting Kind_ with another poet who lives in NH-- we are discussing it every two weeks via zoom. Definitely enjoying it. For the most part I'd say she makes poetry accessible for a wider audience. she has nature as part of many of these poems, which works for me. Interesting to me how I am drawn to some poems and my friend to others. I expect we will finish end of Sept. I also see Limon is coming to Portland to speak next April; I may attend.

1133408 John-- I really like the idea of this book. Right now I am swamped with work here at the farm, and I wish I had more time to read right now--than Have... Sigh...

Frankly, I was not impressed. I honestly think poets of today have to make an effort in meter and versification. ..."

John
I have Limon's latest book and have started it- I will be posting a note to you about here when I have finished.

Thanks for your thoughts on her work. :)

1133408 That's an interesting approach John, but I get it! I am starting with her most recent book-- the one she read from about her grandfather.... _The Hurting Kind_.

Will you let me know, please, how her work strikes you?

1133408 Larry-- this is interesting reading about Whitman- thanks for sharing . I recall some of Whitman's descriptions of Lincoln when he saw him pass in his carriage or on foot.

Has everyone read fully _Leaves of Grass_?

Wonderful! This is a new Emily Dickinson poem for me. Thanks for sharing this one. :)

1133408 Larry based on your comments about ozark I am sure I can’t watch it… I’m really a lightweight. Hard to find programs that aren’t too dark and dramatic!!!

1133408 I have watched part of Severence-- very strange and unsettling -- super dystopian...

I also enjoyed schmaltzy Schimgadoon-- a modern funny musical. Wonderful singing and dancing and the show got better as the season went on.

I will look at Ozark thanks.

1133408 Hi John-- I have been wanting to tell you for months that I took your recommendation and I subscribed to Apple TV. I am on season 3 of Dickinson-- I love it. I have slowly watched this series over the past 6 months. It's given me so much to think about regrading her work and also this issue of her relationship to family and why she did not get published. And, the show is really laugh out Ould funny--at times.

I thought the show would end with Season 3, but...

will it continue? And when ...?
