Absolutely so
110440 Greg wrote: "I do agree with that Nidhi - all of those writers you mention provide astute social commentary; they're a wonderful window into the Victorian social world."

Indeed they are!
110440 Greg wrote: "I'm in chapter 13 now, and I love the dissident minister and his sister. He really tries to do good, and his heart is in the right place; it's very endearing..."

110440 Nidhi wrote: "It definitely reminded me of Tess, too and of Hardy's pessimistic way of treating his characters but book gets better.....at least its not gloomy all around.....I am on chapter 16."

110440 As I immagined, being out of town with friends I could read very little - but I had great fun: we were at a competition for reading out loud!!! I entered in the final 12 chosen with the poem I published here for our Mondays Poems!
I've updated my post (n. 6) with my scanty total of 222 pages!

110440 Updating my post (n. 9) it seems I've done almost all I intended - a part from one book, that is rather longish and I think I'll postpone it in a month or so.
110440 Leslie wrote: "I also was intrigued by the question of whether Earth and its colonies were real or a simulation. Reminded me of the Matrix movies, so Mandel doesn't get originality points, but still an interesting question. I liked Gasprey's conclusion - that living life to the fullest and with a sense of humanity is what matters regardless of whether the life is "real" or a simulation"

This is the issue that most interested me!!!
110440 Leslie wrote: "Well, it was probably not such a good choice to have 2 time travel books back to back... I think that this book suffered some in comparison to Kindred.

Aboslutely!!!
