Have just been chatting to my eldest son who spent last night in hospital and has to go back tomorrow for tests...first my husband, now my son...what on earth is going on?Ruth, I used to nurse in a psychiatric hospital many years ago (when there were still such things) and I loved working Christmas Day. It was so special. I usually requested one of the geriatric wards. Those elderly people, even though they were suffering from dementia, still had so many wonderful stories.
Oh B! Losing a child must be so painful - it is not the natural progression of life. Big hugs to you too. And as for your self-present buying spree, sometimes I think it would be easier if we all just bought our own presents!Jean, I am pleased you both still like each other after so long. That is an achievement in itself! And I am sure the two of you have many wonderful memories to share.
What a lovely tradition B! I particularly miss my Dad at Christmas - he made Christmas for me and it has never been the same since he passed away. To make it worse, he died at Christmas. It will be 27 years this year, but I still miss him every day. He was a very special man.
Oh Jean - big hugs to you. I hope you will have family around you that you can reminisce with. Your brother will always be with you in your heart. xo

Ah well, just as well they are all different! Though Kayden can talk up a storm when he wants to! His mother asked after he and I had been talking on the phone recently "What do you do to him?" - she can never get a word out of him on the phone!
Thank you B. I am very lucky with him. he is a lovely child - he knows how to amuse himself, would rather read than watch TV, has a great imagination and has manners!
Recently finished Words in the Dark
which was a 2 star read for me. Here is my review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
My almost 9 year-old step grandson and I write to each other every couple of weeks, and we illustrate our letters. I keep his letters in my treasure box.We are both bookworms so we talk a lot about books, what he is doing at school. I am looking forward to introducing him to Neil Gaiman on Christmas Day.
