“I don’t need help,” Kea said, anger rising, not at Zara but at herself for not being able to do everything herself.

Kea shook her head no slightly. “It’s all just me...” she murmured. “B-but i don’t need anyone else, i’m fine.”

Kea nodded, and her head slowly dropped onto Zara’s shoulder, her ears turning pink. ‘Be cool Kea be cool!’ she thought to herself.

“I had a dog when I was a kid,” Kea continued. “Her name was Pippi and she was a sheltie I think? I don’t remember much about her though.”
(i used to have a sheltie called pippi! we could keep her for long tho bc we had to move)

Kea’s head leaned back, her eyes closed as she thought about it. “I’m not sure. Maybe a bat, or a dog”.

Kea smiled, starting silent as Zara talked about herself.

Kea nodded again, and yawned. “Tell me more about yourself Z. I don’t care about what, just whatever you want. I just need something to stop me from thinking about the future.”

Kea nodded. “Yeah, 18. I’ll turn 19 in November, which is crazy. How old are you?” ‘You sound like a child, Kea,’ she chided herself.

“Hm... i think I’m a Sagittarius?” Kea said, and shrugged. “I’m not into that sort of stuff.”

“Sounds like a fun show.” Kea yawned again, and repositioned herself to be more comfortable, which meant scooting closer to Zara.

“Oh! Like the rhyme, right? Divorced, Beheaded, Died. Divorced, Beheaded, Survived?” Kea said, remembering when they learned about it in class.

“What’s Six about?” Kea asked.

“It was when I was kid, the few i remember is Matilda and Lion King. What’s your favorite musical?” Kea asked, looking away.

Kea’s eyes opened up, and her face heated as she stared back at Zara. “Uh.. um-“

“I’ve seen a few musicals a while ago, it’s been a bit though,” Kea said, running a hand through her braided hair before letting it fall to the ground.

“What’s your favorite song?” Kea asked her, just wanting to talk with someone about something that’s not life threatening.

“I do like action movies, but only ones with comedy. So like marvel, Zombieland, that sort of stuff. Tell me more about yourself,” Kea said, closing her eyes.

Kea smiled back nervously. “Okay uh.. well my favorite color is teal, I don’t like the rain, and I like action movies.”

“Why’d you hide it? It’s pretty,” Kea said without thinking, and immediately started freaking out. “Oh- um, sorry, i didn’t mean that-“

“You first Z. I don’t even know your name yet, and you want me to tell you random stuff about me,” Kea said, leaning her head against the bark of the tree.
