I prefer individual books to series. Series always have a bad book (examples: Mockingjay, House of Hades, Order of the Phoenix, New Moon, etc.) whereas a single book won't be ruined by any sequels. Some of my favorites books are (in no particular order): Looking for Alaska, the Book Thief, Before I Fall, and Thirteen Reasons Why.

I feel like I'm the only one here who has no desire to become an author whatsoever. I love reading, but I'm not a great writer and I'm certainly not creative enough to create an interesting, original plot. Right now I want to be an environmental engineer, but that could easily change once I get to college.

Oh my gods, The Heroes of Olympus series is terrible. I loved the original Percy Jackson books, and Lost Hero and Mark of Athena were ok, but on the whole it's just an awful series. Most of the new characters have no personality, and characters that had personality in the original series have lost their personalities in this series. Jason is a useless Percy wannabe, Pipper is a waste of space, Frank is a loser, Hazel should still be dead, and Percy and Annabeth, characters we loved in the original series, have lost all their admirable traits. The only decent one of the seven is Leo. The best character of the series is by far Reyna and she is hardly in it. Rick Riordan is just not good at writing in third person.

Your personalities don't have to match exactly for a relationship to work out. In fact, it's probably better if there are some differences between the two of you. People who are too similar tend to clash.

The best advice I can give you is to keep your eyes open for other guys; if you find another guy that you like, you will be able to move on from this guy.

Kiss: Gale Hawthorne, Finnick Odair, Jace Wayland, Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, Draco Malfoy, Oliver Wood
Slap: Ron Weasley, Katniss Everdeen, Clary Fray, Rachel Elizabeth Dare, Simon Lewis, Lena Haloway
Kill: Pipper McLean, Tyson the Cyclops, Peeta Mellark, Lavender Brown, Cho Chang

Claire, just remember that things aren't always as dramatic as they are in books. Who you go out with isn't a dramatic decision where you have to choose between two guys who are both in love with you. Do you know if either of these guys has a crush on you?

Wayan, that does sound pretty complicated. It's always difficult when you and your friend both like the same person. The best advice I can give is don't risk losing your friend over this guy. Guys will come and go, but true best friends are rare and you should hold on to them. Friends are way more important than guys. And since he already has a girlfriend, I suggest just being his friend for now.

Yes, that makes sense. However, I'm still undecided as to whether or not I'll continue reading this series. Honestly, I just don't have the time to get obsessed with a series.

But Rachel, I'm already in the third part and my sister said it gets really good as soon as the third part starts, but I'm still really bored. I'm just really frustrated with the whole Clary/Jace situation.

But I'm more of a Clace fan and I've heard that Jace and Clary become really unlikable as characters. Is this true?

I'm currently reading City of Ashes, but I'm considering quitting because it's so boring. I'm also reading Nineteen Minutes, which is quite good.

Well said, Charlotte.

I loved the original five books, but the spin off series is terrible. The characters are so boring and under-developed (cough cough Pipper) and I'm starting to not like Percy and Annabeth as much. They used to be one of my favorite fictional couples, but in the spin off series they are dull and neither of them are as funny as they used to be. Rick Riordan is so much better at writing in 1st person; his 3rd person narration sounds very removed and makes reading the spin off series very monotonous. The only decent thing about the spin off series is Reyna because she is just awesome and actually has a personality unlike every other character in those books. Like siriusly, frank and hazel, or, as I prefer to call them, Frazel, are the worst characters of all time. I don't think I'm even going to read House of Hades because I'm so frustrated with this series.

So I'm currently reading City of Ashes, and it's so boring. I loved the first one, but City of Ashes is terrible in comparison. I'm thinking about quitting the series. Does the series get better? Would it be worth it for me to continue reading?

It's a rock. Extrusive. Felsic. Gotta love environmental science.
