Carole Ann Moleti is a nurse-midwife in New York City, thus explaining her fascination with paranormal and urban fantasy that infuses everything she writes.

Her dark urban fantasy Void of Course: Book One in the Boulevard of Bad Spells and Broken Dreams series was published by Champagne Books.

She is now celebrating 9 years since release of Breakwater Beach, which joins its sequel The Widow's Walk in the Unfinished Business Series.

Her short fiction is featured in several of the Ten Tales Anthologies. Excerpts of Carole's memoir, Someday I'm Going to Write a Book: Diary of an Urban Missionary range from the sweet and inspirational in A Quilt of Holidays to the edgy and irreverent in Not Your Mother's Book: On Being a Woman.

Quite a bit, actually. Many people ask how I research the paranormal elements of my stories.

The characters are composites of people I know. I spend a lot of time on research so the settings are realistic. For the Unfinished Business series, I traveled to England to visit the parts of the country where the novel is set. That included London and the Victoria and Albert Museum. I also have done re-enactments in Victorian dress and visited a fantastic exhibit of period dresses an UConn/Storrs. It is impossible to put on a Victorian dress and hat without someone to help! And those women held onto men's arms to keep from tripping over all that fabric.

Because I have spent so much of my life on boats (including sailing on an 1800s Windjammer out of Camden, Maine) and on Cape Cod. I have experienced several major hurricanes and been on boats caught in high seas and unexpected weather events. I have also been on multiple ghost tours and participated in several paranormal investigations.

Finally, I am a nurse and midwife. There is at least one baby born in most books, and my medical scenes come from lived experience. My midwifery residency was on the North Shore of Massachusetts, and I spent a great deal of time in Salem.

The integration of magickal practices of all types into modern life is something I have experienced first hand--and I thank my pagan friends and writing partners for their generous help in getting those details correct.

Thanks so much for asking a great question!(less)

That will sometimes get my mind off my writing. Another thing I do is do research for one of my books. What I find particularly helpful is to visit the setting since it generates sights, sounds, smells, and from that springs ideas.(less)
