TSTL is an acronym for “too stupid to live.” Used when a protagonist who should know better foolishly throws themself into an obviously dangerous situation, without preparation or caution. More often refers to the heroine, as traditionally the man’s role has been to rescue the foolish woman.
A classic example is the young woman in a “B”horror movie where people have been disappearing mysteriously. She hears a loud noise in the basement. The audience gasps, “no!” but oblivious, she goes downstairs to investigate, and is attacked by a monster.
