[close] there's something off about the town of carmody. it's too perfect, too flawless. it's like someone ripped a moodboard straight off tumblr and turned it into a place. perfect, crystalline ocean beside an immaculate, white-gold beach that slowly slopes up to a palm-lined esplanade and boardwalk. shops with pristine, striped awnings and driftwood trinkets lining their windows. cafes with polished white tables and stable umbrellas. ice creameries devoid of the gum, grime and melted puddles that usually accompany such a busy establishment. but not everything is as it seems. for one thing, everyone here is young. nobody is older than twenty-five, and all of the residents could easily take up a career in modelling. for another, there are no other animals. no flies, mosquitoes, other bugs, not even ants. nothing living but the plants and the humans. and lastly, carmody is an island. totally isolated from the mainland, the island is known for the beach parties held nightly. nobody ever really thought about that, or that the only person to ever leave the island died of suffocation less than an hour after setting foot on the mainland. the truth? the perfect island of carmody is cursed. anyone that sets foot on the island is immediately bewitched, trapped eternally in whatever age they were when they found it. it's easy to tell the newcomers apart -- they're the ones with the imperfections. the longer you stay on carmody, the more it becomes a part of you. it shapes the residents into the perfect beings it wishes they were, and only the young survive this. and of course, if the trapped ever set foot on ground other than carmody, they die.
